I have been waiting for this release with great anticipation since this along with gimmie back my bullets are my favorite two skynyrd albums, I love nuthin fancy because it rocks harder than any other skynyrd record and this record does rock, the bass pulses with great clarity and the guitars ring loud and clear....simply the best sounding version of nuthin fancy I have ever heard! the record jacket is of the highest quality and that's very important as well for record collectors, I am looking forward to other releases from analogue productions because they are making the best records money can buy! thanks kevin and chad!

What can I say...
After hesitating about the$75 price tag on this record I took the plunge and bought it at the sale price of $67.50 (still high mind you). Boy O boy! was I in for a treat. The sound on this thing is breathtaking. Like all the AP/Acoustech records it immediately floored me and made me instant fan of Nat King Cole. Now I don't have to feel bad about spending $68 (ok $67.50) on it.

Impressive sound quality, rich with very little surface noise. Robust packaging for the oveseas delivery with the vinyl flat. Much relieved as my last purchase was the Who's Who's Next LP which is very poor. Bit pricey now but worth it.

I got this on a lark because although I rarely listen to jazz, my only other copy is a cassette I made in the 1980s and I thought the album deserved to be heard in a better format. I kind of wanted to hear what a modern 45 could do, too!
This LPs is now the crown jewel in my vinyl collection (displacing a first pressing of Pink Floyd's Meddle). It sounds awesome and allows me to fully the enjoy the performance, which is staggering. Highly recommended, especially if your only other copy is on cassette!

I agree with the other reviewer about brightness in places. Seems like the middle tracks are engineered differently. Some songs are just outstanding dynamically. Others seem annoying in some aspect, as said too bright. So, Treble/bass adjustment may or may not correct this for you.

If you don't have this you just are not experienced all the way. To those that have the original mono of this its still revelatory. The tube cutting of the LP adds to the you are there quality of this LP. Its almost like you are sitting right there with Jimi and Chas Chandler as it was mixed or not mixed depending on the cut.
"Red House" will make your hair stand on end. Worth getting just for that! Great sound. If you have the stereo get the mono too. You really need them both. Are you Experienced?

My turntable is on top of a 4 foot tall equipment cabinet, along a side wall, and 6 feet in front of my 2 speakers and powered sub. There is no other location for my turntable in this room. I had a persistent LF rumble and no rumble filter on my pre-amp. I bought an expensive base for the turntable, a cork mat, and isolation feet. Each item helped but the rumble/woofer flutter was still there. I tried this DB Systems Subsonic Filter and this really works! I still have plenty of bass and now I have plenty of volume! This will not degrade the sound quality of your system.

I was a little skeptical when i bought it, especially because of the price. I bought it because nothing else seemed to work well. This product has been incredible. Sometime when I use it, a lot of gunk will come off the needle, and sometimes not much at all. The player always seems to play much better after use. I use it when I visually see stuff on the needle. It is very easy to use, and safe for your needle. It may a bit pricey, but in my opinion worth it. I have gotten a lot more enjoyment out of my vinyl ever since I got it.

Kevin Gray has never let me down. This time he's managed to transport me back to 1974,when at 15-16 years-old, I first heard Skynyrd coming from a friend's car 8 track. The clarity is breathtaking, yet no bottom end is lost...in fact it's sweetened. Leon's bass is front and center throughout. I haven't had a record touch my emotions like this in a very long time. Do NOT hesitate grabbing a copy of this !!!

Good clean recording, Nice separation in the instrumentation. You can hear each instrument distinctively, but each track is still very cohesive.

Mobile Fidelity's version of F4 has finally been released on sacd & I can only say that it is superb. This album has been a fave of mine since 1981 & it has never sounded better to these ears. The drums especially sound more pronounced & life like on one of my desert island classics. I had almost given up hope that F4 would ever be released by MoFi but the extremely long wait was well worth it & my patience paid off! Foreigner's debut album is available on sacd from MoFi & is excellent also.

With some luck I had the oppertunity to buy 25 albums in 45rpm format. I bought some Griffins as well, I did not know how good the album was.. it was just a lucky shot. But wow the music is great to my ears and not only the songs! I have about 150 albums (45rpm) and this is one of the best sounding albums. Pure Magic !

A superb followup to Volume 1

This set is the second 6-lp reissue of selected Mercury Living Presence recordings, the initial volume having been released during 2012. The original 2012 set was superb and this followup set is every bit as good as the original. Pressings are uniformly excellent, the sound is clear and well-defined and the transfers to vinyl have obviously been performed with a great deal of care and expertise. An excellent booklet is included which contains a number of interesting photographs I have not seen published anywhere else.
I certainly will not hestitate to purchase any further volumes in this series, but I would hope that the Mercury recordings of Henryk Szeryng are given further consideration, since apart from the Brahms Concerto in Volume 1, so far as I am aware none of his Mercury recordings have ever been reissued onto LP in the "modern" era of audiophile LP reissues.

The music is 10 out of 10 on probably one of country music's finest LP's ever.
For a couple of years I'd been happy with my 80's reissue LP (what did I know?) but this version on Impex brings this album up to a whole new level. Willie is in the room now. One the best pieces of vinyl in my whole collection.

Some of the LP is noisy. There's a swooching sound between songs on LP1 Side1. You can't hear it while the song is playing, but you can hear it at the fadeouts and between songs. I don't find that acceptable. I'm finding more and more reissues have problems like this! Even with that, I feel this pressing is noticeably better than the original Polydor LP (and even that sounds pretty good!). Dynamics are better. Better detail and quieter overall since the cutting pitch (and therefore the cutting level) is wider. I suspect there was less limiting since there aren't space constraints to get it all on 1 LP. Even if you have an original pressing as I do, I would still recommend getting this 2 LP set. Artwork is well done, and comes with a nice poster too.

I have to agree with The Gonz - it is definitely too bassy. This is evident from the start with "Rosanna", and particularly in the closing band work-out in the song. Some of the excitement of the track is taken out due to the top end being suppressed. I went back to my 1982 UK original that I brought when it first came out and was much more moved and involved. Toto IV is not that well recorded anyway, in my view - "Turn Back" was far better. Nor, strangley, was it Toto's finest, even though the most successful by far. I won't be playing the SC version again, it's back to my original in future. I wonder if Joe Reagoso did a better job on the FM re-issue.

I can only echo everything that everyone has said already. The quality of this pressing is extraordinary - and I don't say that for all the SC re-issues by any means. Every possible detail has been included here, from Ken Scott's masterful production. The analogue tapes must have been in very good nick! Special highlight for me was "If Everyone Was Listening", truly took my breath away. But the whole lp is just wonderful. At last a re-issue to be truly proud of. Well done SC!

This is one of the quietest, best sounding albums that I own. What a great pressing. And, the "coolness factor" is off the charts! The clear vinyl is awesome.
As a life-long Steely Dan fan, I have to admit, I didn't love the music upon first listen, but it has really grown on me. Great album.
