Organ-drenched proto-prog!

Enter a garden of progressive celestial harmonies, tight bass grooves, and organ-drenched solos that ripple through the band's 1971 release. Given more room to freely experiment, Gypsy brings even more latin-flavored progressive rock through frontmen and principle songwriters James "Owl" Walsh and Enrico Rosenbaum's wildly creative minds. Pressed on purple vinyl!

Often referred to as proto prog rock, Gypsy's latin-flavored percussion, blue-eyed soul ballads, heavy psychedelic guitars and breezy southern rock all combine to create some of the best American progressive rock. Their freedom to experiment with various tempos, moods, and genres makes this follow-up album to their double LP debut a worthy contender to groups such as Chicago and Santana.

With more of a focus on percussion and melody, In The Garden is bright and catchy, and further builds on the foundation the band laid with their first album. Though successful touring musicians, their original releases never became commercially successful — eventually leading percussionists Joe Lala to play with musicians such as Stephen Stills and Joe Walsh, while Bill Lordan later joined Robin Trower's band.

Thanks so much to Sundazed Music and Acoustic Sounds for reissuing this awesome record! My original copy from 1971 was showing it's age and being able to hear it again on vinyl without any surface noise or ticks and pops as a blessing! This was an amazing band. These first 2 albums are their best, in my opinion, and I'm so grateful that they've been reissued. Vinyl sounds great! Highly recommended to anyone who appreciates great vocal harmonies and tight, explosive rhythms.
