It Did Get Better

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, February 6, 2025 by Brady This is the first Genesis album I had - gifted to me at Christmas 1983 on cassette. Saw them live January 14, 1984. So far in this excellent Atlantic 75th series A Trick of the Tail is my favorite. However, this Genesis album does sound incredible. I have played the four sides through a few times now. Well Second Home by the Sea several :) Amazing. Sounds the best I have ever heard. So happy to have this in our collection.

Superb

5 Stars
Posted Saturday, February 1, 2025 by Bob H While I have been an SD fan since day one I have never had what I considered to be a really great sounding pressing of Katy Lied, until today. The detail, soundstage, separation are to my ear superb. I am hearing detail that I never knew was there before.

Thank you to everyone involved with this amazing sounding pressing.

Highly recommended

4 Stars
Posted Wednesday, January 29, 2025 by Dan Those that remember this older album know it's a gem by an amazing trio. Not one bad song on it some are fantastic. This pressing is dead quiet and the cover high quality. Clearly a well done issue. Pro; Great music! Highly recommended LP. Con; This LP was not well recorded/mixed in places.

A Collector Copy?

5 Stars
Posted Saturday, January 25, 2025 by Anonymous I know "Off the wall" like the palm of my hand. I still have my original copy from 1979, and I still listen to it regularly. In addition to it, I also have a an additional 1st issue, a Half Speed Mastered copy that it is supposed to be the audiophile one ( I do not care for half speed albums because they lack of low end range (Bernie Grundman's words), a 180 gram copy from Music on Vinyl, which is a decent digital issue and a CD copy.

So, I can compared the Mofi reissue with all of them. As we all know, "Off the wall" was produced by Mr. Quincy, engineered by Bruce Swedien using Acusonic Recording process and mastered by Bernie Grundman. Can you have a better team to improve it? If you like this album, you only need an original, mint copy. It is superb.

"Off the Wall" is an album that makes sense for a Mofi issue because, it is an analog production (there are not drum machines, programmed synthesizers, etc). All you hear is done by real people. So, I am glad that Mofi decided to

Not bad, not great

4 Stars
Posted Friday, January 24, 2025 by Jim From what I've read, this is the best reissue. It squeezes about 24 minutes per side on 33. It is quieter and less dynamic than the CD though. Still, very nice pressing.

Not what I had hoped for

3 Stars
Posted Monday, January 20, 2025 by Anonymous I was very excited for this release, and bought it with the belief that it would be the ultimate sounding version of this classic album! I was wrong. It’s ok, but definitely not great. I compared it against my original US pressing from 1977, and my white label promo pressing from the same year. Both of them easily beat the Impex. What the Impex really lacks is the transparency and extended top end that you get on the original pressings. I understand that the master tapes were brand new in 1977, and that they don’t improve with age. Its unfortunate. Good news is that it isn’t too hard to find an original pressing in good condition.

Boz Takes Off

5 Stars
Posted Sunday, January 19, 2025 by Blue Boz's solo debut, and boy, did he get everything right with this one - one of the top records from one of my favorite white soul boys, and here it is in all of it's glory on a fantastic 45 rpm rendition - worth the extra flips, believe me.

Tom Petty - Finding Wildflowers Product No: AWAR 645928

These Recordings Highlight the Petty Genius

5 Stars
Posted Saturday, January 18, 2025 by KrKing Even this small sampling of OutTakes from the Wildflowers project highlights the dedication and effort that Petty extended to all of his (and The HeartBreakers) song writing and recordings Rarely a one-take effort to anything they produced in studio or on the stage. Each song is a reflection of Petty's life. As one who was "late to the game" as a Petty fan, It's my opinion that the deep/deepest tracks which tell the best stories. I have the entire Petty collection, and when I am trying to depressurize from the day, this release is often my "Go To" solution to putting life back in perspective !

Thelonious Monk - Big Band And Quartet In Concert Product No: ACOL 89640

Way Underrated

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, January 16, 2025 by Don Allen I picked this up on a recommendation, and I'm glad I did. This is now one of my favorite Monk outings. The sound quality is extraordinary - It is up to Analogue Productions standards, even though it's just Columbia.

Alanis Morissette - The Collection Product No: ARHI 49490

Music = 5 stars; Pressing = 2 stars

4 Stars
Posted Monday, January 13, 2025 by Geoff I had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately, this pressing is dull and lifeless. Very flat, almost muddy. Mids are lifeless and the HF is boomy. Definitely needs subtractive EQ on the lows. The highs are also understated and get lost in a sea of low mids.

The digital version isn't so bad, but whatever they used as source material (digital master w/ limiting?) doesn't translate to vinyl.

This is Maverick/Rhino, however. Perhaps they can hand this to Rhino High Fidelity and do a proper vinyl release? There may yet be hope!

I hope as vinyl grows in popularity we can get more purpose-built vinyl releases. Remastered and put through the paces, analog masters or non- limiting digital masters? Something to pay respect to the recording process.

33 or 45 rpm?

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, January 9, 2025 by Blue A very charming presentation of this lp from Evan's classic trio. Classic warm analog feel. My first choice is still the AP 45 rpm: a clearer separation and balance of the instruments - La Faro's bass really benefits in this respect. A crisper clearer more spacious sound overall.

Yes - Fragile Product No: AAPA 014-45
Available: InStock
Category: 45 RPM Vinyl Record
Label: Analogue Productions (Atlantic 75 Series)

Just go for it!!

5 Stars
Posted Monday, January 6, 2025 by William Taylor Yup. It's everything you could hope for---clear, authoritative and crisp. My pressing is outstanding in every way. Have you ever heard Bill Bruford play on Yes/Fragile? Until now, you really haven't!!

Life is short, go for this one and be happy you did.

Label: Impulse (Acoustic Sounds Series)

Breathtaking Sound!

5 Stars
Posted Sunday, December 29, 2024 by Paul Couldn’t be happier with this new acoustic sounds LP, the sound quality is everything I had hoped for with this series, absolutely dead quiet vinyl, the quieter parts of the phenomenal title track like the bass solo that slows the whole piece down is incredible. This is Sonny at his most far out with the Love Supreme band backing him, Elvin’s drums are a sensation. Couldn’t be happier, acoustic sounds and QRP have done it again! Top notch mastering, beautiful glossy cover, lovely 10/10 vinyl. Don’t miss out on this one!
