Posted Monday, December 29, 2025 by Jay G So, I did not buy this from acoustic sounds (bought directly from Ledisi lol). Thought it would be ok for me to speak on “for Dinah” as I have the record and well I’ve bought a lot of stuff from here also…lol.

With this being said…WOW this is an incredible recording! She has a wonderful flow with all the songs. The producer did a great job with excellent musical balance. I have to say I’ve listened to the record and the Hi Res audio version on Qobuz. I have to say the record just had so much more “soul” to it. The style music truly does work well with Vinyl.

I would not hesitate at all to recommend this recording! In fact, I emailed acoustic sound to see if they could create an SACD version! Especially if they can instill the warmth and musicality that I get from the Vinyl!

Great modern eclectic jazz-pop record

"Oh Snap" is her 8th album and represents a progression in her artistry. The album is lyrically and vocally surprising, varied and very ear pleasing. The production is all around wonderful - helmed by the up and coming Jack DeBow (who is a producer to watch). Together, Cecile (who composes most of the tracks) and DeBow just work! They have assembled a great cast of players who bring to life Cecile's mercurial vision into a cohesive and absorbing set of music. Put it on and just let it lead you. If you are a fan of great chanteuses like Ella Fitzgerald/Sarah Vaughan/Kate Bush/Dionne Warwick then Cecile will be right up your alley. One of the best releases of 2025.

There is some surface noise on my copy, but it's tolerable, and most importantly, it sounds good. I'm pleased with my purchase.

Great performance but intimate not rushed nor reaching. Now to the recording- this copy is audiophile caliber. Quiet vinyl and clear sound. This vinyl sounded like a top quality high priced recording. All the way around I was pleasantly surprised.

I've worn out a few CDs and cassettes of this record in various cars, and on this re-issue, all kinds of things are more present than on either of the previous versions. Its a bit noisy, and has lots of interstitial noise between tracks, but you know what, it all really fits this record. If you just sit and enjoy the complex weaving of melodies, counter melodies, and piano parts.. you cant get enough. Do recommend if you're a fan of this record. It sure beats some releases on previous mediums.

The sound has great instrument separation and a three dimensionality. It's a gas to hear these four legends bouncing off each others ideas, carrying on a exploratory musical dialogue. The packaging is uniquely first rate - the vinyl is not packed inside the sleeve, but rather in the center of the gatefold. I've gotten plenty of used lps this way but this is a first for a new record from the factory. I like it! I'm hoping this sets a trend. I will definitely be keeping my ear tuned to this series.

But listening to her in French is a particular pleasure since she not only has perfect pitch but also perfect diction, a very rare gift. And though the vynil is of no special type, the recording and sound quality are excellent. This record is a must have. Quite a treasure indeed. It is one of my fervent wishes that she would someday pay homage to the american standards at least in one collection since not only would it be an unbelievable economic success that would bring her to the mainstream but her skills would do them more than justice! Bon Chance!

Arrangements are gorgeous setting up a jarring contrast of smooth strings and glistening brass against the painful to hear voice of Lady Day. More an artifact of history than an entertainment, this belongs in every Holiday fan's collection.

A creative set of modern readings of Parker classics produced by Larry Klein of "River: The Joni Letters." Futuristic vocals and soundscapes, with many notable performances throughout, but the free-flowing harmonic meanderings of Donny McCaslin on tenor saxophone stand out, painting a poignant and dreamy non-alto homage to Bird.
