Record Store Day 2014 release! 180-gram vinyl

Mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound from the original master tapes

When Aerosmith first came charging out of Boston in 1973, there was no infrastructure (i.e. Internet) to boost their reputation. To make it back then, a band had to have good songs, good chops, instrumental prowess — and chemistry. Aerosmith had it all; they were signed to Columbia Records in 1972 and released their eponymous debut album a year later, which went platinum!

Aerosmith's fourth album released in May 1976 "captured Aerosmith at their most raw and rocking" according to AllMusic.com Rocks has been ranked No. 176 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The commercially successful album produced three charting singles on the Billboard Hot 100 including "Back In the Saddle", "Last Child", and "Home Tonight."

Rocks stands as the band's finest hour, featuring a full range of essential tracks and concert staples, including the dirty white groove of "Back In The Saddle" and the apocalyptic "Nobody's Fault," one of the heaviest numbers in existence.

Aerosmith is the best-selling American rock band of all time, having sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, including 70.2 million albums in the United States alone. With 25 gold albums, 18 platinum albums, and 12 multi-platinum albums, they hold the record for the most gold albums by an American group, the most total certifications by an American group, and are tied for the most multi-platinum albums by an American group.

My original copy is dished so to play one side I need to tape it down in multiple places around the edge of the platter. So I figured at $20 (on special) this version would be worth the gamble. Vinyl is flat and quiet. The sound is almost as good as my original so it seems this has not been messed up by remastering or digital fiddling. Highs and mids have not been brightened and the bass is still very satisfying. Sound 9 out of 10
