Backed by an all-star cast featuring organ master Larry Young, saxophonist Harold Vick, drummer Ben Dixon, and percussion virtuoso Candido Camero, Green delivers an album overflowing with swagger, soul, and swing. 

Recorded in 1965 and produced by Creed Taylor, His Majesty King Funk occupies a unique place in Green's remarkable catalog. It marked his only release for Verve Records and the final chapter in his celebrated run of collaborations with Larry Young, whose inventive organ playing provides the perfect foil for Green's fluid, bluesy guitar lines.

From funky originals to a soulful interpretation of the classic "That Lucky Old Sun (Just Rolls Around Heaven All Day)," Green navigates each tune with the melodic clarity and understated brilliance that made him one of jazz's most beloved guitarists.
