Norah's voice (or piano) isn't any more forward on this LP than it is on the Blue Note CD that I purchased from Amazon. I think Kevin just decided to leave it as is. I mean why mess with something that is already perfect. Perfect mastering + perfect pressing = Perfect LP! Norah's voice is so beautiful! Highly recommended!!

Get this one. There is nothing better.

Speaking for me, this QRP LP surpasses everything prior to this one. I've compared both LPs. This is the one to own. Get this one. Really.

Be assured that the other reviews are correct, Jones voice has been moved forward in this mix and is slightly hotter than the original. It is noticeable but with a voice this beautiful, it is not distracting. That is the only caveat of this review. This pressing is absolutely outstanding. Voice and instrumentation are highly detailed with an intimate but full soundstage. The vinyl itself is dead quiet with no noise present. Packaging is of the highest quality. I've purchased several things from ASI and have never been disappointed.

Just received this yesterday and listened to it today. I am pleased with the sound. Rich, and smooth. Not harsh at all. Vocals are prominent but not too far forward in my opinion.

I have the CD, the FLAC, the Blue Note LP and then DSD version of this album.

Side A is astonishing. Big sound, close contact with her voice. Side B was strangely awkward, last song it felt like she was singing extremely close to the microphone.

I think I can find a better version of this album, but side A is by far the best version I own.

I have this pressing and it is amazing, I came back to buy a second one for a friend and couldn't believe there were negative reviews. This record blows me away, the sound quality is superb - I even took the time to email Kevin Gray to compliment him on the mastering, nice guy. I could see how some might say the vocal is hot, but on my system there is no distortion and the music is mixed well with the vocal. Her voice is unreal on this pressing.

I agree with the other reviews here as to the overall quality and presentation. I do hear left channel distortion in places and the voice is a bit on the "hot" side. I was expecting a breathtaking version but this one is lacking. Since I don't have the Classic version available, my favorite for now is the original Blue Note CD.

First off, I would just like to thank Acoustic Sounds for providing this review forum section in their web site. They allow all reviews to be posted here, whether good or bad. I commend them for that. No other online dealer provides this service that I know of. On to the Norah Jones review: Has anyone else noticed distortion in the left channel of this pressing? Perhaps I received a bad copy. I normally love Analogue Productions offerings but this particular pressing is unacceptable. As Steven H. described in the previous review this vocal was recorded a bit hot, perhaps a bit TOO hot thus causing the distortion. Shouldn't this have been addressed in the re-mastering process? Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio mastered this disk. Any thoughts? Unfortunately I cannot return this vinyl since it is past the thirty day return period... I am hoping that the DSD version will have fixed this problem. The high quality jacket gets 5 stars. Vinyl only gets 4 stars.

I love the Come Away With Me title by Norah Jones. I heard her live performance on NPR radio months before she became famous. I have this title in CD and LP (Classic Records) as well as the Norah Jones Live (at the House of Blues) DVD.

I have played the Classic Records LP over a hundred times. Although her voice is recorded a bit hot (raw) at times the dynamics, musicality, and low level detail on the recording are impressive.

Since my LP copy was getting a bit worn, I took a chance on the Analog Productions reissue.

Oh... From the first drop of the needle drop I sensed that something was not right. Her voice was moved forward and the musical instruments pushed into the background. The raw edge of her voice was tamed and as a result there was a corresponding loss of low level detail and harmonics in the music. The life was squeezed out of the music to make everything as un-offending as possible.

The out-of-print Classic Records version is much better, ;-{.

QRP 200g pressings seem to be consistently well done and very quiet, and this is no exception. Add to that some flawless engineering and you have an opportunity to listen to vocals that have a clarity and presence that are at times stunning. Beautifully executed record.

Not your parents vinyl!

I’m a genuine son of baby boomers and recently inherited my parents entire vinyl collection for which I’m truly grateful. My parents had music playing in the house my entire home life (same turntable and stylus even!) I got VERY much used to the sound of vinyl. Alas came the digital era that brought with it the convenience of CD’s and MP3’s. And wow, no more pops and scratches! So it was set in my mind forever (so I thought) that the clarity of digital would always win out over the pops and scratches of vinyl. Fast forward to today. Being a music lover I decided to break down and buy a new turntable and order some new vinyl. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? SERIOUSLY, ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? This CAN’T by vinyl, not what I was used to hearing! Crystal clear as a bell! NOT what I was expecting at all. I thought pops and scratches were just something you had to deal with and get used too. Come Away With Me sounds amazing compared to what I was brought up hearing.

I briefly compared this to the previous 200 grams Classic Records version. For me the singer has a more solid and substantial presence now as compared to the thinner sounding vocals on the Classic Records version. Subtle sonic details like the brush hitting the cymbals are more obvious, and the bass notes are a tad more substantial. The record plays dead silent too. It's a great sounding record.

I want to give this LP 5 stars, but I simply cannot wholeheartedly endorse an "audiophile" LP that is pressed slightly off-center. I realize that vinyl is an imperfect medium, but I feel that manufacturers can and *should* implement better controls for this critical prameter. In certain passages, especially on the last two tracs of Side 1, I can hear the resulting pitch instability. It's subtle, but it's there. In all other respects, this LP is a resounding success. The vinyl surfaces are incredibly quiet, and the remastering is superb. I own both the new Analog Productions the Classic Records pressings of this title, and had an opportunity to compare the two recently. The Analog Productions pressing has a leaner, more focussed sound with slightly greater trebel emphasis. The Classic Records pressing is a bit smoother, rounder, and fuller, albeit less dynamic. If you crave audio detial, you will love this new Analog Productions LP.
