This is Nina at the piano, joined by a small band as she ignites a set of late-night torch songs: "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out," "Strange Fruit," "Trouble in Mind," her stunning version of "Sinner Man," and more. Originally issued in 1965 by Philips.

Dead Silent Pressing

My pressing is pretty much dead silent, with a single-digit number of light clicks. The voluming is a little on the low side as the songs are mostly quiet songs. Thus, it is imperative that the pressing be quiet, and so it is.

Nina's voice is prominently featured in the middle of the soundfield. She's completely clear and well-focused. Her voice has the most weight of any of the instruments. Speaking of instruments, they are quite sharp and vivid, but Nina's piano is a little on the soft side.

Overall, this is a very good audiophile record. These records from Acoustic Sounds are the equal, if not a touch better, than the Tone Poet releases.

Without a doubt the best sounding lp version I've heard of this stirring recording! Nina is there with visceral presence and physicality! There's definitely been major strides in pressing quality from QRP, truly silent sides beginning to end! Highly recommend!!!!
