Foreigner Head Games on numbered limited edition 180-gram LP

Mastered from the original analog tapes

Foreigner's 1979 effort its edgiest, heaviest, hardest-hitting album

The moment Head Games begins, a nastier, grittier tone is established, and it becomes apparent that Foreigner is bringing something new to the table. Namely, an edgier, leaner sound built around stronger guitars and harder rhythms. The heaviest record of the band's career, the 1979 effort functions as irrefutable proof that the quintet rocked as hard as anybody in the mainstream and did so without losing sight of the melodies that put it at the top of the charts. And with Head Games, there Foreigner would stay.

Half-speed mastered from the original master tapes, Mobile Fidelity's collectible audiophile edition of this longtime favorite classic-rock staple bursts with tremendous dynamics, soaring vocal timbres, punchy dynamics, and newfound instrumental separation. With more emphasis placed on Mick Jones' guitar riffs and meatier grooves, you may just find yourself investing in a new power amp to get every last degree of detail that's been uncovered! Longtime fans will be thrilled to hear the subtle nuances now fully discernible amidst a gargantuan soundstage.

While I'll admit I only own a couple of other Original Master Recording records, I've never been so impressed by both the sound quality and packaging of a record like this, and I own over a thousand records. What's also interesting is I originally owned this album back in the '80s on cassette, then CD later and I was accustomed to the somewhat limited headroom on the album recording whenever those super punching drum hits kick in during tracks like "Dirty White Boy" and "Head Games." Yet this vinyl recording manages to lift the headroom to allow for those drums to not sound as compressed or clipped. In some ways I was alarmed by this because of what I was used to, yet ultimately I'm absolutely impressed and thrilled by the mastering for this vinyl release. Ironically I bought this album along with the 2-LP 45 RPM set of Foreigner's first album and this one actually sounds better to me; somehow deeper and with a wider frequency range. Highly recommend.
