The Who — Tommy on Hybrid Stereo SACD

The Who's defining, breakthrough concept album!

Mastered direct to DSD from original analog sources

The Who's defining, breakthrough concept album Tommy — a full-blown rock opera about a deaf, dumb and blind boy — is a daring, electrifying album that launched the band to international superstardom upon its original release in May 1969 and established The Who as one of the most ambitious forces in rock music.

Conceived and written by guitarist Pete Townshend, Tommy tells the surreal story of a "deaf, dumb and blind" boy who becomes a spiritual and cultural phenomenon. But beyond the narrative, the album is a tour de force of songwriting and performance, packed with iconic tracks like "Pinball Wizard," "I'm Free," and the transcendent finale "We're Not Gonna Take It/See Me, Feel Me" that remains cornerstones of The Who's live performances.

More than half a century later, Tommy remains one of rock’s most celebrated and influential works. For fans of classic rock, it's essential listening. For audiophiles, it's a landmark recording worthy of this Hybrid Stereo SACD from Acoustic Sounds.

Mastered direct to DSD, this disc reveals every nuance of the album's dynamic soundscape. The result is greater transparency, deeper dynamics, and a level of realism that brings listeners closer to the original master recording than ever before.

From the explosive power of Keith Moon's drums to the thunderous drive of John Entwistle's bass, the shimmering acoustic passages, and Roger Daltrey's commanding vocals, this SACD lets Tommy breathe in a way few versions ever have.

A format worthy of a legendary album

Relieve Tommy with the Hybrid Stereo SACD that elevates your listening experience. If Tommy belongs in every serious rock 'n' roll fan's collection, this version belongs at the very top of it.

There is nothing really wrong with this release. I have a Japanese sacd and I was hoping for better, but did not get it. At this point I will once again ask the question, what is going on with Analog Productions and their sacd reissues? This is now the second series of disappointments, with the first being the Steely Dan reissue series. The only one I found markedly better was Katy Lied. This all make me leery about what comes next. They charge a lot of money for me to keep being disappointed. Sorry guys. Do better.
