Hybrid Stereo SACD

Mastered direct to DSD from the original stereo tape by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio

Albert King's electrifying Stax Records debut Born Under a Bad Sign!

Released to celebrate Albert King's Centennial, this new SACD edition of his legendary first album for Stax Records, Born Under A Bad Sign, is mastered direct to DSD from the original stereo tape by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. Albert King is considered one of the three kings of electric blues, alongside B.B. King and Freddie King.

Albert's path to the blues started with a guitar he made himself. Later he bought a really good instrument, then came a couple of promising songs, and a series of successful singles made under a contract with Stax Records in Memphis. Finally, late in life, Albert landed on the sunny side with Born Under A Bad Sign. The album became one of the most influential recordings in the history of the blues.

Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and included in Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" Born Under A Bad Sign also features contributions from Booker T. & The M.G.'s and The Memphis Horns.

In more than 56 years since its release, the legacy of Born Under a Bad Sign has only continued to grow. The album was added to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry, which recognizes recordings that are deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
