A Walkin' Thing is the final studio album by organist Shirley Scott recorded in 1992 at the Van Gelder Studio and released on the Candid label.

After two splendid piano outings for Candid, Shirley Scott returned to the Hammond organ on which she made such an impact in the soulful days of funky jazz. All the musicians on the date are close friends from the Philadelphia area with trumpet ace Terell Stafford and tenor man Tim Warfield blending especially well in the front line.

The set has a variety of moods, including the infectious headlong romp of Carnival and a marvelous tribute to Art Blakey by Tim Warfield entitled Shades of Bu. The title track gets an extended work out, Terell contributes the truly funky D B Blues and Shirley herself pays respect to the late Harold Vick as well as importing an almost sanctified air to the soul classic "When a Man Loves a Woman."
