Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time — rated No. 14!

It was 50 years ago, on August 8, 1969, that the world's most famous band stepped out from London's EMI Recording Studios to stride, single-file, across the black and white stripes of Abbey Road's nearby zebra crossing. With photographer Iain Macmillan balanced on a stepladder and one policeman stopping the street's light traffic, The Beatles crossed back and forth three times, led by John Lennon, followed by Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison. Just six photos were taken, with the fifth selected as the cover shot for The Beatles' penultimate studio album, Abbey Road, named after the tree-lined street in which the studios are located.

Released September 26, 1969, Abbey Road was not The Beatles' final album, as Let It Be followed in 1970, but it was the last one John, Paul, George, and Ringo recorded together as a band. The Beatles will celebrate Abbey Road's anniversary with a suite of beautifully presented packages to be released worldwide on September 27 by Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol/Universal Music Enterprises. The album's 17 tracks are newly mixed by producer Giles Martin and mix engineer Sam Okell presented here in stereo.

Ringo Starr tells interviewers: "I've loved all the re-releases because of the remastering, and you can hear the drums, which got dialed down in the old days."

This record is well made. It is quiet (I clean my vinyl thoroughly before each use), the sound is engaging and enjoyable. The mastering allows clean separation and distinction of the various instruments and vocals. I consider myself picky, and this record satisfies me. I also have a MFSL issue from 1980 that is all analog. The MFSL finishes second place. Is there a unicorn out there? An original issue that is clean and hasn’t been played much? Good luck with your search. In the meantime, get this record and enjoy. It is good. (P.S. five stars are reserved for the exceptional only.)

I’m so tired of buying used records that claim mint or near mint only to send them back. I am transported back to my youth with this record. Quality records saves the day! Thank you

WHY so noisy?

I am indeed a big fan of QRP, and have purchased some great sounding selections you have lovingly remastered/pressed... but sadly Abbey Road is a bit of a disappointment. My daughter bought this for me as a Christmas gift and I was super anxious to receive since I had heard the 50th Anniversary via digital.

I'm hearing a NOTICEABLE repeating surface noise on side 2 throughout during quieter passages and between songs. Just more than I should hear right out of the sleeve. I'm running a first class Denon DP-2000 with Ortofon Blue cartridge.

I'm posting this more to provide a heads up for QC than to complain... because I've bragged about QRP on numerous occasions.

wonderful pressing, piss poor mastering

Great Pressing dead quiet vinyl great job by QRP,,, Mastered at halfspeed by miles showell at abbeyroad , and to be honest this is by far the worst version i have ever heard on vinyl, talk about sucking the life out of a record, the guitars and drums all sound far away the seperation is terrible, When you have the original master tapes why in the hell would you kick the tape to digital and then cut from a digital file when you can cut straight to tape? So much information is lost in that transfer and boy does it show, no matter how hard you turn up the volume knob you cant get back the music, its gone ,the shimmer the seperation the punch, its gone This record just does not breath like the better pressings of AbbeyRoad, sorry to say but avoid this version at all costs its a huge let down!!!!!

Awesome recording!

I was very impressed with the imaging, stereo effects and sonics. The only minor complaint is the vinyl is a little noisy between tracks. This one is a must have showcase record in 180G vinyl.

I hope you folks appreciate the fact that Quality was chosen to press a Beatles album. I'm proud to own any record that says Quality Pressing on the Jacket.
