Elton John's new studio album, the follow-up to 2013's The Diving Board
Elton John presents his 33rd studio album, Wonderful Crazy Night, on Island Records. The album features the infectious and upbeat lead single, "Looking Up." Wonderful Crazy Night is co-produced by Elton and T-Bone Burnett and was recorded at The Village in Los Angeles.
For Wonderful Crazy Night, Elton requested of his longtime songwriting partner, lyricist Bernie Taupin, that he "write a lot of up-tempo lyrics," because Elton feels he's in a joyous place both personally, and professionally. "I'm not very good at writing up-tempo songs, but we're going to make a joyous record. Even if the songs are slow, I want the lyrics to be joyous, I don't want any sadness on this record." Elton says.
""I haven't really written an album this up-tempo since Rock of the Westies, and I think this is a better album than that," Elton told the Los Angles Times.
In his five-decade career, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Elton John has sold more than 300 million records, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world. He has more than 50 Top 40 hits, including seven consecutive No. 1 U.S. albums and 58 Billboard Top 40 singles, including nine No. 1 hits. For 31 consecutive years (1970-2000) he had at least one song in the Billboard Hot 100. His single "Candle in the Wind 1997" sold more than 33 million copies worldwide and is the best-selling single in the history of the U.K. and U.S. singles charts.
