This album is no exception. Sounds incredible. Distinct, wide, and alive. My issue is the album is missing a couple of tracks, specifically Cocktails For Two. Love that song and wish it was here.

Posted Sunday, December 26, 2021 by Brian VanPelt All of the instruments are well recorded and, even though this was a live show, it seems almost like a studio recording. The soundstage is spacious and has good depth.

Each instrument is sharply defined, and on the piano, I could trace (in my mental image) Kelly's fingers going up and down the piano's keyboard. Every pluck of Montgomery's guitar is easily heard, as well as every drum or cymbal strike. Even the bass stands out as very well-defined. Whatever tape they used to master this had to be in perfect condition - there are no harmful sonic artifacts from worn-out tapes.

This recording is ridiculously good. The audience is not intrusive at all, and you do have the feeling of being there. The general layout is guitar on the left, drums on the right, and piano in the middle but further back.

This is exceptional in every way. I have the 45 rpm Analogue Productions version of this album, and between that and this SACD, I call a sonic draw.

Grade: 5+

You're probably familiar with the music and the players so you know what you're getting but this pressing takes this album to new level. Another excellent pressing from Chad's presses too. Buy it, you won't regret it.

The mastering and pressing is superb. Quality Records is getting better and better (pretty soon I'll be buying music I don't even like just because of the quality).

Highly recommended. Heck, there's an appearance by Ben Webster that is beautiful.

I basically have everything Bill Evens recorded and saw him in person at least a dozen times. This recording is unique. Evens is almost playful. I look forward to hearing it in its new threads. Perhaps my 50 year old LP can get a rest.

As usual, AP has done a superlative SACD transfer. I have owned this disc as a regular RBCD, A Japanese RBCD Import and AP's SACD's effortless reproduction of a timeless classic has them ALL beat by a significant margin.

I have 5 other of Holiday's Verve recordings: 2 Japanese vinyl re-issues (mono), an original Verve mono, and a Classic 200 gm re-issue. Until now the Japanese were my reference demos. Now, it's this. I can't believe I'd ever be spending $50 on a record, but this is money well spent. Right up there with with their 45RPM re- issue of Dexter Gordon's "Go!"

I didn't think that the 45 rpm jazz reissues that Analogue Productions release could get any better but now that they're pressing them at QRP in Kansas they're even better.
