Records were a tad statically charged, but a quick spin on the RCM took care of this. This is a very well done remaster and pressing. I would highly recommend this one if you want an open and airy sounding copy of Under The Pink!!!

Posted Wednesday, November 19, 2025 by joey1127 I originally bought this album on CD back in the early 90's when it was first released in the U.S. This specific pressing, the 2-LP Remastered version is...well, not what I was expecting. So much static charge that the records were stuck in the sleeves and full of pops and ticks. A quick spin on the RCM and problem solved! However, the sound quality isn't what I would call improved over the original at all...sounds lightly bloated and HOT. Packaging is beautiful but the sound quality just isn't that much improved over the original. Not sure in this case what the advantage was spreading it out over 2 LPs?

Side A is muddy sounding, Side B is better sounding, Side C...muddy, and Side D...muddy, but over all the entire pressing is just not that great sounding for a re-master. Sounds like when CBS tried to do their own version of half-speed mastering and it came out sounding dark. HF is rolled off considerably. This is such a great album, my first press U.S. CD in the box with the polaroid's, charm, and map sounds far better. What is going on with these sub-par pressings?

Posted Wednesday, November 19, 2025 by joey1127 For being a run-of-the-mill mass-pressing, this one is a winner! Came out of the shrink sounding fantastic with hardly any static, pop's, or ticks. Sound Quality is above average and is as good as my first U.S. CD pressing. A quick spin on a proper RCM turns this release whisper quiet. If you want THE MEMORY OF TREES on vinyl, this is the pressing to get...and get it soon because once these are gone, they are GONE. I'm a fan of everything Enya does so...the music is killer!

Close to perfection

Crystal clear mids and heights (sometimes a bit too much fior me) also vocals and piano are perfect. But the bass is muddy in some places and the bass drum is lighter than it should be at the same time. Separation and soundstage is excellent. **** 1!2

Yes - these are fighting words because Kevin's all analogue system is second to none. What makes this version a cut above is that is is cut at 45 rpm. There is real space between the instruments. Stevie's voice is elevated, centered, and forward. The bass thumps. My copy (#464) is flat and dead quiet. I look forward to having shoot outs with my friends comparing other versions including the Rhino but IMO this 45 rpm version wins hands down.

An epic record for a epic live show

I listen to the "CD quality" stream quite a lot, and that now seems muddied and compressed compared to this. Instrument separation here is fantastic. It really does sound like I'm amongst the musicians playing their instruments rather than just listening to a track. This record really puts the digital stream version in its place, as this is superior in every way. The streaming version almost sounds like FM Radio by comparison.

What floored me is the level of detail. I am constantly hearing things I had not heard before at all. For example in Prelude Part 2, I am keenly aware of Reggie Lucas's jamming during Pete Cosey's solo. There are parts where I didn't even know he was playing before. All of the little side notes are elevated so that nothing is missed. This record does justice to this special part of Miles Davis's career.

Great Pressing, No Gatefold?

Posted Tuesday, November 11, 2025 by Anonymous I've only ever listened to this album on digital...in my car over CD or streaming. Just got a turntable and decent stereo system last year. I put the records through an ultrasonic cleaner upon opening and played them shortly after. The sound was good...it's definitely "warmer" than what I remember of the CD and streaming versions. Maybe that's just the nature of analog/vinyl - but the shows were recorded digitally, so maybe it's the remastering? Just doesn't seem to have the "clear, crisp brilliance" that I remember of the CDs. Having said that, everything still sounds great - and the records themselves were ultra flat with no scuffs and only maybe 1-2 extremely faint clicks/ pops throughout the entire 4 sides. A little surprised when I opened the package and discovered this release wasn't done in a gatefold jacket. With the picture record sleeves included, it seems like this could have easily been done in a beautiful gatefold jacket. That's my only rea

It literally sounds like you're on stage with the Doors and your ear is pressed up against the mic with Jim singing into it.

I own others copies ( Sony - stereo - UHQR 33 1/3 rpm - UHQR 45 rpm ) The bass is very accurate. I hear more details in general. I already did not compare to UHQR 33 1/3 version and I will update my review later. I compare to the blue vinyl version and I did not notice any difference

It sounds like the master tapes to me, even though it is bass shy. If you've never heard this album, you need to buy it.

Are there different tiers of quality at QRP, reflected at the price point? So I either accept this Lp with a warp or get my money back. LP with a warp it is. Something is going on at QRP. Lately I've been getting warped records from them.

The concert performance, camera coverage and quality of sound is enough to satisfy the cost. 2. Add in the Blu-Ray Audio and the documentaries, videos and animation that follow the Audio and you once again come out a winner. This release finds David Gilmore at a level that I have not heard in years. Surrounded by an array of very talented musicians and vocalist along with re- mixes of the existing and a stellar performance of newer material makes this an evening of entertainment and guaranteed enjoyment for the future. When Chad Kassem announced the Chess 75 Series, he said that nothing would be held back and no expense spared. He delivered with aces!! From the top quality packaging to the excellent sound, everything is solid on this brilliant release . The vinyl is as quiet as a church mouse. Matt Lutthans' mastering choices are perfect with warmth and vibrance I've never heard on this album before. Wolf's vocals sound so soulful on this album, and the music just takes you to the moon with him. I very highly recommend this album to fans of early electric blues.

If you love Muddy's blues like I do, this pressing will bring tears to your eyes. I can hear Muddy's heartbeat and his soul in every bit of the music. The gatefold jacket is beautiful and of the highest quality. The mastering and pressing is just marvelous; it checks all of the boxes. This excellent reissue is a great way to kick-off the Chess 75 Series, and it is very highly recommended!
