This is really an amazing reissue by Mobile Fidelity. The packaging is great, and the vinyl arrived clean and shiny. It played without so much as a single pop, on both sides, and at a pretty loud listening level. The black background is exceptional, and on an album like JT, it really enhances the performance.
Of course, the performance is incredible as well. This album is one of those special works that has a slew of hits, and also a collection of B-sides that are almost even more enjoyable. "There We Are" is a poignant, bittersweet ballad to his then-wife, Carly Simon. On the other side, "Terra Nova" impresses with it's gentle dynamics, background vocals and exceptional guitar work.
The dead-quiet wax, combined with the clear vocals and articulate guitar style make it sound like James in in your living room with you.
Highly recommended.
