American Beauty is the Grateful Dead's fifth album. Released in November 1970, by Warner Bros. Records, the album continued the folk rock and country music style of their previous album Workingman's Dead, issued earlier in the year. The album entered the Billboard 200 chart, peaking at No. 30 during a 19-week stay in January 1971. The album was certified gold-selling by the RIAA in July 1974, and later reached double-platinum status in 2001. Ranked 215/500 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time List in 2020.
