Beck's decision to bring in George Martin to produce Blow by Blow resulted in not only Beck's best album, but Martin's most significant post-Beatles production. Martin wrote the string arrangements for two tracks, "Scatterbrain" and "Diamond Dust" and sequenced the album so that its flow seems inevitable.

1975 was a magical year for Jeff Beck. Already a rock superstar from his groundbreaking guitar work with The Yardbirds, Jeff Beck Group and Beck Bogert & Appice, Beck's Blow By Blow was a total artistic leap into new musical territory which netted the guitar hero massive acclaim.
