Grammy-winning French electronic music duo Daft Punk — musicians Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter — reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France and enjoyed continued success in the years following, combining elements of house with synth-pop.The duo's songs are considered essential in the French house scene.

Alive 1997 is a live album recorded in Birmingham in November 1997. The album contains 45 minutes of non-stop live mixing, featuring Daft Punk's standard tracks ("Da Funk," "Rollin' & Scratchin'") along with those techno-electronic explosions unique to Daft Punk.
