40th anniversary reissue of Rush's sophomore release!
Direct metal mastering
Fly By Night, Rush's 1975 classic, introduced drummer extraordinaire Neil Peart to an adoring fan-base. The album did fairly well on all charts, eventually gaining platinum status for many markets, especially the U.S. and Canadian ones.
Produced by the band and longtime early Rush associate Terry Brown, the album was recorded at Toronto Sound Studios and saw the departure of original band drummer John Rutsey due to health issues. His replacement Peart, also took over as principal band lyricist. The themes Peart explores on the album would be instrumental in preparation for the band's groundbreaking 1976 studio album 2112. Fly by Night initially performed only moderately well on the charts, cracking the Hot 100 at No. 88, but would eventually earn platinum certification in Canada and the U.S.
A possible 40th anniversary spring tour in 2015 has been mentioned by Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson, but frontman Geddy Lee has stated that each member has "a different idea" about the group's future plans.
