The music is sublime, the Alban Berg Quartet’s performance is superb and the sound quality is exemplary. This had to be some of the quietest vinyl we played in ages. This ten LP box set is a steal !!

Posted Wednesday, April 17, 2024 by Wised I thought the Patricia Patrcia Barber's Cafe Blue one step release was the best vinyl ever produced. This one step pressing Of Getz and Gilberto's masterpiece is a religious experience. I own the 33, the 45 and now this one. The 45 RPM version was extraordinary, this one has simply left me without words to adequately describe it, it is simply the best vinyl record ever made. Kudos to Impex Records, a great achievement indeed. Compared to the previous 45....incredible bass, even better soundstage, more transparency, more air, more delicate rendering, more, more, more! I thought the difference would be subtle given the original 45's excellence, it is not! You feel like if you were right in the studio's recording booth all those years ago! Every mouthing of the sax, the ring of the top hat, Astrud softly singing in your ear, it's almost sexual in the most intimate way....WOW

Was worried the quality would not be very good due to the low price, but was pleasantly surprised. You would have to spend over $1000.00 to better this product. Turned out to be my most pleasant surprise purchases of the year. Americana/country/bluegrass with an old school vibe but there is also other influences present in some songs. The recording/ mastering is great, sound stage, separation and her voice is presented beautifully!!! A little surface noise but a good cleaning took care of most of it. Five stars!!!

****Update**** more than a year later and I must say, in the pound for pound enjoyment factor, this may very well be my favorite album released in the last 10 years… maybe 20 ??… I have since bought a couple of the colored variants and autographed copies and have seen Sierra live… absolutely stunning!!! Posted Tuesday, December 19, 2023 by Nate I had no idea who Mary Black was when I met Chad at RMAF. We got talking, and he recommended a few lps, among them Mary Black's Babes In The Woods. I was unsure what to expect since the title song was the only one I'd heard previously, but as it turns out it's not even the best track on the album. I love the obvious Celtic influence, but it's not self-serving like a lot of the "Celtic" type entertainers seen on PBS. I have listened to this so many times, especially when auditioning a new piece of equipment. The sound quality is really good. Instruments sound natural, like they do in person. There is air around the musicians, and sounds are easily located within the soundstage. I've never heard Mary Black in person, but if she sounds as good live as she does on this album, it would be a great experience. Everything about this album was done well. Better in fact than other Mary Black albums I own. I will probably buy another copy of this to save for a time when the first o

As good and AAA as the Blue note classic is, this One Step is better to my ear. Warm and engaging. Better bass definition. Nice sizzle on the top end. The piano is also more defined and all the instruments have a little more space. I purchased because I am a completist and it’s one of my favorite albums. Very happy with the purchase!!

I in fact bought a copy at a local store and it had a little more noise. I took it back for refund. I no longer have the original lp to compare to. Reviewed on Rega Planner 3 with upgraded power supply through Moon phono preamp to NAD receiver out to Dynaudio Excite X44 speakers.

The side 3/4 disc is only good for filling the trash can. I can't believe they have the balls to package this crap and sell it to the public.

Granted, not in step with his usual style but a top shelf collection of songs in my humble opinion. I got into this release after hearing "It's in the Way that You Use It" from the movie, "The Color of Money". After I brought it home, way back in the mid-80's, there were many tracks as good or better. "Run" and the duo with Tina Turner, "Tearing Us Apart" are awesome! My original copy was worn out, so I bought this one as a replacement. As usual, Acoustic Sounds did not disappoint, and the quality was impeccable. Flat, quiet and rich soundstage! I've never been disappointed with anything I've purchased here, and "August" was no exception.
