I had an original pressing from Columbia that was a tad brittle sounding and bright. This Mo-Fi SACD absolutely cleans up this fantastic album and makes it sound really good. The nostalgia of 50's era doo-whop is ever present here and really shines as it should.

Posted Saturday, February 12, 2022 by Brian VanPelt The soundstage is huge. It seems to stretch beyond the speakers and goes very high. I feel like there is some depth as well. When Parsons sings, he does seem somewhat back in the sound field. The sound is wide open and there is plenty of space between instruments.

Everything sounds crystal clear, but not too bright. I don't know how Parsons does it, but during light moments, the sounds of his instruments seem to lightly float in the air - but then there is still slam for the more powerful moments. This sound can be so delicate, and so fluid it's just remarkable. Of course, the sound can also sound like you are in a stadium, as when a full orchestra comes in. Finally, Parsons' voice is perfectly centered, and the focus is super-tight.

I'll take this and Parsons' "Eye in the Sky" for what SACDs are capable of sounding like. I wasn't even of fan of Alan Parsons until I heard these SACDs. Now, he is on regular rotation.

Think listening to the master tape in your living room. The engineering quality of this recording is obvious. I have the remastered cd and now I bought the mofi sacd.The mofi sacd is just a little better than the remastered cd but that little bit makes a big difference in sound. If you like derek & the dominos than by all means buy this sacd. Like i said on all the reviews i think that they should make a three channel option because thats the way stereo was invented to be a three channel system. If you agree with me than go on mofis web site and let them know that you would like them to make sacd with more channels at least three they could even have a third option for a milti channel you know more than three channels for ambiance i just cant understand with all the space on the sacd why not use it it. Just a waist of space not to.I have many multi channel sacds and dvd audio plus blu ray music with high rez dts and dolby and stereo all on one blu ray also pcm multi channel why not have all these options on your music

This is the most realistic sounding, best separation, soundstage, etc. A great job on a classic deserving of a great job.

MFSL releases sometimes EQ too bright (in my opinion). Pronounced Lehnerdskynrd and Allman Brothers Brothers & Sisters are the perfect examples. Not this time. Sounds like no extra compression, and no extra EQ. If they used any, you can't tell, which is how it should be (in my opinion). I've got an original pressing in good condition, and this absolutely blows it away. The way DSD should sound.

Posted Saturday, November 15, 2014 by Mark Powers I am not a big R&B person but this recording is now in my top 10 of live performances and I have been listening to music for quite awhile, a must purchase. Bill Withers voice is a pure and very strong true R&B voice. The band during this recording is perfect. It all comes together with a very enthusiastic live audience that you can hear throughout. Packaging is good with good liner notes. There are some issues here and there with the sonic quality's of the recording, some drops, announcer's mic doesn't seem to be on same board, sometimes the audience can get a little loud, very little things. The performance is so strong it blows away imperfections in the sonic quality. I am going to listen again, right now. If you are looking for a disc to take you out of your normal genre, this is it.

I will say spend the $$$ for this one don't worry about the amount it's the most amazing analogue oriented mixes ever. You will get chills up and down your spine when you hear Will Love me Tomorrow and georgeous harmonies...so often through this album you will say this sounds so life like, so much like it would sound if Carole King was sitting in your livingroom playing the piano. You will often hear light harmonies and sounds you didn't hear on previous releases. I had the SACD by Sony and this one blows it away by miles and miles...i'm just amazed by this release and to be honest previoiusly i knew the album was great but never really cared for the mix now it's all changed...i like her voice up front and alot of piano...and you hear other instruments but this person or persons got it so right...don't deny yourself access to one of the

I pre-ordered this last September and let me tell you the wait was well worth it. The original master used was well recorded as you can tell at first listen. There is very little grain which can be a detractor with high quality (re)masters of this order. There is a noticeable presence of air but not as much as on some other SACD/hi-def quality recordings.

Stevie's guitar sounds very life-like although I noticed in a one or two spots where it seems to be pushed back in the mix (noticeably quieter). [edit: I've learned that this is what is called 'print through' and unless you're listening very analytically on a decent setup you may not even notice it]

The vocals and other instruments are well defined in the soundstage and nothing really seems overbearing in the mix. It's all too perfect really.
