Posted Friday, December 1, 2023 by Jim The only negative is the red vinyl. Black is the best, clear is the worst. The only noise on here is from Bogart, Appice, Day & McCarty rocking it out. What beautiful noise it is. No longer have the original to compare with but this copy is great. Highs, mids & lows are all there. Clarity & Soundstage is great. Also bought their 2nd lp which is about to be cued up for play & review. Reviewed on Rega Planner 3 with power supply upgrade to Moon phono preamp to NAD receiver out to Dynaudio Excite X44 speakers.

The only thing that is missing is their 80s hits like “in your wildest dreams“ which I am surprised they didn’t put on this. Pick it up.

Awesome sound but low volume

Posted Sunday, March 20, 2022 by Brian VanPelt The record appears to be made with lower than normal volume levels. Because of that, I had to turn up the volume and that exposed the record's surface noise. Overall, the vinyl is pretty quiet - like the new Classic Reissue Series from Blue Note.

Take any version of this album and apply a sharpening filter to it, and that's the album you get here. The splashy cymbals have been tamed, but a bit too much, so some of the cymbal sound seems removed. It's true that the cymbal strikes were overbearing in previous versions, but the masterer was a little too agressive in taming those strikes.

The sound is excellent except for the missing music (only the cymbals are affected). If not for that and the low volume level, this would easily be a 5 star album. It really is a significant improvement on previous versions.

The second record is worthless except for Big Tree, Blue Sea.

It's dead quiet, and it sounds right. I can actually hear the "fuzz" in the piano on "Mean Mistreater" without the static. It rocks, and I'm happy to own it.

A nice sturdy gatefold cover with top of the line rice paper inners.The lp is flat, centered, and quiet. Excellent sound and with the addition of bonus tracks including the best song they ever did(Eurotrash Girl) make this one of the finer reissues I have purchased.

takes me way back

Posted Friday, October 5, 2012 by Tom This was the first album I ever purchased. I still have but of course it unplayable. I have the CD with the long version of Get Ready on it. To say there is no comparison is an uderstatement. WOW!! From the sharpness of the first drum snap to the organ solo floating in front of you this is a job well done. I have a nice system but not Maserati like. I could feel that Pete Rivera was singing from behind his drums, the soundstage is great. The guitar just reaches out and grabs you. There was a time when a little something would help music sound better. Not needed here.

Once again VINYL RULES!!!!
