By 1960, he is in peak, devastating form, unleashing timeless classics such as "Talk to Me Baby," "Madison Blues," and a hauntingly powerful rendition of T-Bone Walker's "Stormy Monday." Collectors also get a front-row seat to blues history with an alternate take of "The Sun Is Shining" — a track that serves as the undeniable, raw blueprint for James' eventual masterpiece, "The Sky Is Crying." 

Brim's half-dozen contributions aren't just filler — they are pure gold. Some of these cuts feature legendary harmonica virtuoso Little Walter blowing stellar harp on "Rattlesnake" and "Be Careful" (where Walter actually stops playing to yell ad-lib backup vocals right into the microphone). And long before Eddie Van Halen shredded his way through it on Van Halen's 1978 debut, John Brim wrote and recorded the original, swagger-soaked "Ice Cream Man" right here.
