The Frank Wess Quartet is an album by jazz flautist and tenor saxophonist Frank Wess which was recorded in 1960 and released on the Moodsville label. The album also includes Tommy Flanagan (piano), Eddie Jones (bass), Bobby Donaldson (drums).
This newly remastered edition of tenor sax player Frank Wess' The Frank Wess Quartet album is released as part of the new Moodsville Series. Originally released in 1960 and recorded at Rudy Van Gelders' famed studios in New Jersey it also features Tommy Flanagan (piano), Eddie Jones (bass) and Bobby Donaldson (drums). This new edition is presented on 180-gram vinyl pressed at QRP with all-analog mastering from the original tapes and housed in a tip-on jacket.
Frank Wess was renowned for his extensive solo work; however, he was also remembered for his time playing with Count Basie's band during the early 1950s into the early 1960s.
