An epic record for a epic live show

I listen to the "CD quality" stream quite a lot, and that now seems muddied and compressed compared to this. Instrument separation here is fantastic. It really does sound like I'm amongst the musicians playing their instruments rather than just listening to a track. This record really puts the digital stream version in its place, as this is superior in every way. The streaming version almost sounds like FM Radio by comparison.

What floored me is the level of detail. I am constantly hearing things I had not heard before at all. For example in Prelude Part 2, I am keenly aware of Reggie Lucas's jamming during Pete Cosey's solo. There are parts where I didn't even know he was playing before. All of the little side notes are elevated so that nothing is missed. This record does justice to this special part of Miles Davis's career.

I own others copies ( Sony - stereo - UHQR 33 1/3 rpm - UHQR 45 rpm ) The bass is very accurate. I hear more details in general. I already did not compare to UHQR 33 1/3 version and I will update my review later. I compare to the blue vinyl version and I did not notice any difference

Are there different tiers of quality at QRP, reflected at the price point? So I either accept this Lp with a warp or get my money back. LP with a warp it is. Something is going on at QRP. Lately I've been getting warped records from them.

The concert performance, camera coverage and quality of sound is enough to satisfy the cost. 2. Add in the Blu-Ray Audio and the documentaries, videos and animation that follow the Audio and you once again come out a winner. This release finds David Gilmore at a level that I have not heard in years. Surrounded by an array of very talented musicians and vocalist along with re- mixes of the existing and a stellar performance of newer material makes this an evening of entertainment and guaranteed enjoyment for the future. Thanks David.....Great Work!

When Chad Kassem announced the Chess 75 Series, he said that nothing would be held back and no expense spared. He delivered with aces!! From the top quality packaging to the excellent sound, everything is solid on this brilliant release . The vinyl is as quiet as a church mouse. Matt Lutthans' mastering choices are perfect with warmth and vibrance I've never heard on this album before. Wolf's vocals sound so soulful on this album, and the music just takes you to the moon with him. I very highly recommend this album to fans of early electric blues.

If you love Muddy's blues like I do, this pressing will bring tears to your eyes. I can hear Muddy's heartbeat and his soul in every bit of the music. The gatefold jacket is beautiful and of the highest quality. The mastering and pressing is just marvelous; it checks all of the boxes. This excellent reissue is a great way to kick-off the Chess 75 Series, and it is very highly recommended!

They don't play complete songs but probably Richard has mixed them so segments flow into another song. Entertaining and beautiful but sometimes you want to hear a song in its entirety. Go for the Singles 1969-1981 instead.

It's really close to those great BigBand reissues like I have from Analogue Productions (Art Pepper of 1995 in particuar) so I was amazed by the Audiophile-grade sound and especially from such budget price- range Record. Highly recommended.

Disappointed with this re-release

Played it last night and was pretty confused by what I was hearing. We then played my old $5 bargain bin copy, and that didn’t sound too bad! Put the new record back on, and it’s maybe marginally better, but it’s also possible we just WANTED it to sound better. My turntable isn’t super high-end end but I feel it has enough resolution to be able to extract most of the good stuff… but it just wasn’t there. Soundstage felt flat. My wife thought it sounded muddy. For me, this was a waste of $100.

"Oh Snap" is her 8th album and represents a progression in her artistry. The album is lyrically and vocally surprising, varied and very ear pleasing. The production is all around wonderful - helmed by the up and coming Jack DeBow (who is a producer to watch). Together, Cecile (who composes most of the tracks) and DeBow just work! They have assembled a great cast of players who bring to life Cecile's mercurial vision into a cohesive and absorbing set of music. Put it on and just let it lead you. If you are a fan of great chanteuses like Ella Fitzgerald/Sarah Vaughan/Kate Bush/Dionne Warwick then Cecile will be right up your alley. One of the best releases of 2025.

Have an original but it must be at my brothers house so not able compare but I do have the Speakers Corner version which is great but this wins no issue. Such a well produced, written and played album. Music 9/10 Pressing 9.5/10.

whats up with the piano

Posted Friday, September 26, 2025 by david schacherl i've been so stoked about this but after listening to the two preview tracks online recently, it would sound as if the piano is woefully out of tune on this recording.

If you find the moments where Horace solos... the comping on his left hand just sounds like an abomination! everything else about this is so cool and exciting from the tracklist to the photography and cover art... its really top notch, i just cant get past the piano... it's a real bummer.

Sonically, WOW! The pressing is silent, which is normal for these QRP-pressed Pablos. They seem to choose albums with lots of quiet sections just to show off or something, it's that quiet. The mastering is also excellent; Lutthans is great at what he does.

Just a wonderful record all around. I'll cherish this one forever.

This is a slightly hotter transfer than the Fleetwood Mac Blu ray Audio disc also available here. I listened to these back to back using the 5.1 DTS-HD MSTR "layer" and I had to turn this one down. 5.1 Surround mix is good to go. Cant comment on the Atmos mix.

Unfortunately, there are soooo many artifacts… such a contrast against such a wonderful mastering. The bass and drumming is beyond anything I’ve heard on any other ‘Crime’ over the years. ‘Dreamer’ is a revelation on this. Amazing. Acoustic Sounds produces the best records. Please UHQR this.
