2nd listen.. BETTER!, FIrst too many snaps, crackles and pops..

Posted Thursday, December 18, 2025 by greg EDIT OF REVIEW.. noticed after each side, a LOT of gunk was built up on my Sumiko Starling cart ($2k cartridge) and had cleaned off after each side. Today i said "lets listen for the 2nd time" and it WAS BETTER. the quieter tracks with her voice, and guitar were much better. Lovely sound WITHOUT so many "snap-carackles-pops". Gonna keep it. FIRST REVIEW: great sound on this white vinyl double album, made in Germany (usually had good luck with Germany lps), WHEN it's not a quiet passage, or between tracks. Thought maybe it was first few tracks. then maybe first side, then maybe the 2nd lp would be better. nope. Great soundstage, imaging, overall mastering was nice, but the incessant pops and crackles make it sound like the vinyl was 30 years old, having been slid in and out of paper sleeves, every day. Gonna send back and may try the black vinyl.

Incredibly high fidelity and DEAD quiet playback. Bravo!! The music is amazing too of course, and especially notable is the great Jim Keltner's drumming here. Super subtle, tasteful, and interestingly mixed. Sometimes huge and sometimes super laid back and quiet or distant. Very interesting to listen to over and over again.

Live stuff, but the recording and pressing is so good, you'd never know till the audience starts clapping. very low noise floor, no pops or cracks.. almost like the 45rpm stuff, but don't have to get up 3 times. LOL

Amazingly good sound. love these tracks, almost every one is a really good "goth" track, heard em many times over the years but never had this cd OR lp. impressed and happy with this pressing, especially for the price. A win for sure.

One of if not my favorite Grant Green lp's. very happy with this pressing.

Obviously, the performance/song choice is the same on both formats, but the sonics on the vinyl reissue improve upon the original SACD in every way. BTW, the pressing is super-quiet. Just buy it before it's no longer available !

My lovely bride and I really enjoy this album and we were fob-smacked by what we were hearing - lots of subtle detail and occasionally you can hear the mild gravel on the outer edges of Tom Petty’s voice, it’s delightful. The bass is super warm; the piano, guitar, and percussion sound as great as ever. Beautiful!

This record takes you across many different musical genres, from jazz to fusion to ballad to funk and back again. Just when you think you've already heard the best song on the album, the next scene starts and you realize you were wrong. Yes, I am a huge fan of John McLaughlin, and this record makes me realize why!

Impex did a wonderful job with everything...the sound, the pressing, and the awesome album jacket. Bravo!!

It clearly was a religious experience hearing the Wailers and Bob live, so it would be nice to see the entire show released sometime in the future.

Plus that sound Bob got out of his Gibson guitar? Wow, so sweet.

The audio quality on these half speed masters is exceptional too, and for only $26?!?

Posted Tuesday, December 2, 2025 by William Here is the reason for my scoring and review the packaging and sound sonically are first rate although a short booklet would have been nice only reason I did not score a 5 is the vinyl themselves are dirty out of the sleeves nothing my Hummin Guru Nova won't solve I guess but the noticeable scuffs on 3rd song Rose side A are a little off putting plus a couple other scuffs on vinyl #2 while I didn't notice it affecting the sound ran it through a 2nd listen the vinyl is quiet but for $125 you'd expect QC to be tighter on a 1 Step pressing, I have other titles 1 Steps form this label so maybe a 1 off. Number #401 out #3000 so early on in the pressing will be interested to see if any others have same issue.

Posted Monday, November 24, 2025 by Don I had the 33 RPM MoFi, and was a little disappointed with dynamics and air. I bought this one, and I'm glad that I did! This is exactly what I was hoping for. If you like this album, you need to get this, even if you already have the mofi 33 RPM version. You can always sell it on Ebay, as I did.
