"...these are all truly classic Verve titles that you simply don't want to miss...most importantly, the sound of these reissues is nothing short of astounding. Particularly the early Billie and Ella mono records are incredible treasures of sonic beauty. I'd definitely ask Santa for the whole set, or, if you want to cherry pick, the most classic titles. Whatever you decide, you owe yourself at least a half dozen!" Winner of a 2012 Positive Feedback Online Writers' Choice Award - Danny Kaey, Positive Feedback Online, November/December 2011

When Jim Davis started producing records at Verve, he changed the company's recording philosophy toward its most prolific instrumentalist. Where Norman Granz had produced countless Oscar Peterson albums dedicated to the popular song, Davis was more interested in making albums closer to how the Peterson trio sounded live. His first Peterson records were the legendary London House sessions. By the time of this album, there had been no personnel change in the trio for five years - so it is no surprise that the rapport among the musicians here is telepathic.

Originally released in 1964.

Great quality pressing and great content. Oscar reminds me of Monk at times on the piano. The sound quality of this pressing (45) is up there with a One Step...not kidding, it has a great sound stage, aggressive bass, and good clarity. I put this in the must own column. One thing is I think the cover is misleading and was the reason I hadn’t ordered sooner. I thought it was a vocal jazz band, listened on Spotify and ordered promptly. Great trio and a hell off a pressing and it was dead flat!

I wrote a scathing review of the AVRJ 8329-45 (Billie Holiday All Or Nothing At All Mono) which is just $50.00 of trash. However, this album is way different. A detailed recording with no issues in the re-mastering that occurred on the BH title. This is the Acoustic Sounds I know. The media is gorgeous, dead flat and very quiet. No back ground noise, no clicks/pops. Thigpen's drums are well placed and offer a balanced and nuanced sound. Piano is creamy and rich, with a light bell quality in the upper register of the keyboard. Brown is is well defined and articulate. I feel the orginal bass is flabby and round. Here, he is rendered in detail. Crisp and well placed in the mix. You can hear the piano bench creak under Petersen, you can hear the loose clutch on Thigpen's hi hat and Ray fret noise is present. This recording is detailed! The album hits across the entire sonic spectrum and is a great representation of the group. Better than the original with a gorg

This is one of my favorite records by this magnificent trio, and Analogue Productions has done a wonderful job of this Verve release. Peterson plays here with great emotive force on some numbers and a gossamer touch on others, all while deftly accompanied and perfectly complemented by Ray Brown (many genuflections as we speak his name) on the bass and the great Ed Thigpen on the drums. An all-round bundle-of-joy of a record package for the music, recording quality and production! Loved it!

I prefer the original

The first time I heard this recording was at the Stereophile Show in LA several years ago, through a pair of Vandersteen Model 4s. The song was "You Look To Me" and my jaw dropped at Ray Brown's bass, particularly his use of a bow at the beginning and end. I have made some cabling upgrades in my system since the last time I played this reissue, which have resulted in more detail being revealed. On this version, Ray's bass sounds too prominent in the mix, with too much thump and boom. I "feel" the instrument more than "hear" the notes he is playing. I compared it with my original Verve issue, and that distracting boom is not there.

I wish i could go back to those days!!

Yes, everything the others say is true. The sound is liquid, yet correct in its harmonical texture and content. Provided you have the "trip to the moon" turntable, arm and cartridge properly set up, soundstage will result gigantic and extend itself way beyond the sides of your loudspeakers; depth is also outstanding. Far better lp than many others people went crazy about. No need to comment on the artists, and what they are able to hand out with their instruments.

I'm a huge fan of the Oscar Peterson Trio AND everything I've heard so far coming out of Quality Record Pressing. This is a great performance and a fabulous recording. I have a lot of jazz albums and quite a few on 45 RPM but this one has seen the most playing time since I purchased it.

Buy it today.

Analogue Productions records have just gotten better now that they're pressed at QRP in Kansas. This is a fantastic album and it sounds stellar. Thanks to Chad and the crew for a job well done in bringing this album to life. And of course thanks to the crew at Acoustic Sounds for the usual excellent service.

Exceptional pressing!

Yes i am also one that rarely writes a review. These new 45s are sounding excellent. I feel the bass guitar is right in my room along with all the details of the vibrations from the string.

Money well spent

I normally don't write reviews on things that I buy. But on this purchase it feel it is a must. This is by far the best sounding LP in my modest collection which includes many of today's so called "Audiophile" pressings. I have many original Verve pressings of the Oscar Peterson Trio. While I have always loved listening to them I feel that this recording, not only for it's performance set but it's sonic signature is phenomenal. Hat's off to George Marino. As good as the new Tea For the Tillerman sounds, to my ears this just kills it. If anybody is on the fence with regards to purchasing this album don't hesitate. It's so good I bought another one today. Happy Birthday dad.....

Fantastic pressing of a fantastic album

This is one of the first jazz albums I owned. Replacing my crusty old copy with this wonderful Speakers Corner reissue has been like getting it all over again. The sound quality is one of the best I've heard out of this label. I can hear Ray Brown tucking his bow away into its leather sheath on "You Look Good To Me." Amazing...This is one of the gems of my collection.
