U2 — Carnaval De Luz (Deluxe Limited Edition)
180-gram triple LP box set
Features Dolly Parton's final recorded vocal on closing track "Torn"
Carnaval De Luz is the exhilarating 16th studio album from U2, 12 melodically rich new songs from one of the most
celebrated and enduring bands of all time. Acknowledged as one of the best live acts in the world, U2 has sales of more than 175 million and has won numerous awards, including 22 Grammys.
The album carries an especially poignant final moment: Dolly Parton's last recorded vocal performance.
Set for release in the year Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton & Larry Mullen Jr. will mark 50 years together in U2, Carnaval De Luz includes lead tracks "Street of Dreams," "Silencio" and the extraordinary "Torn" (ft. Dolly Parton), a duet between Bono and the late country music icon. Parton died Aug. 25 at age 80 after being diagnosed with cancer.
The Deluxe Vinyl Box Set version includes three LPs on 180-gram heavyweight vinyl. Featuring the new 12-track studio album, plus the Days of Ash EP' and Easter Lily LP available for the first time physically. Limited edition. This is the Irish rock band's first full-length collection of new material in nine years.
"Torn" was co-written by U2, Parton and Snow Patrol guitarist and songwriter Johnny McDaid.U2 describes the song as a country-influenced piece centered on fractured family relationships, with themes that extend beyond its immediate story. Daniel Lanois, one of U2's longtime collaborators, contributes pedal steel guitar to the track.
The placement of "Torn" as the album closer gives the recording additional weight following Parton's death.
Her career spanned decades and included standards such as "Jolene," "Coat of Many Colors" and "I Will Always Love You," along with a vast body of work in film, television, business and philanthropy.
The album follows U2's two six-track EPs released earlier this year, Days of Ash and Easter Lily. Both projects emerged from the same creative period as Carnaval De Luz, according to the band.
