Taylor Swift is deeply in love and not afraid to sing about it on her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, releasing worldwide October 3, 2025. The LP includes 12 songs, pressed on "Sweat And Vanilla Perfume Portofino Orange Glitter" colored vinyl. On Showgirl, Swift does not abandon the relatable big sister vibes that propelled her into rarified billionaire air," writes USA Today. But the 35-year-old engaged pop star shakes off the melancholy of 2024's The Tortured Poets Department for a dozen brisk songs infused with the playfulness of 1989 and the velvet-sheathed-knife lyrics of Reputation.

Swift spoke about the visual art of The Life of a Showgirl in a promo clip released to social media by her Taylor Nation team. 

"The photo shoot that we did with Mert and Marcus (Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott) was so extraordinary and I was so happy with it that I just wanted the fans to have as many images from this sort of world, this album era, as possible," Swift says in the brief video. "And so I really spent a lot of time figuring out how I could make the best vinyl product and the best packaging and the best CD experience that they could have."

As Swift explains in the clip: "The vinyls, they each have a poem inside of them, a unique poem. They've got more images than we ever planned to put in there."

Swift adds of the album art, "We chose this really high-gloss finish which I've never done before, and I think it looks so cool. We wanted this album to feel really luxurious and kind of as a nod to the luxury that a showgirl puts on when she's on stage. Meanwhile, in the quick-change room she's like (out of breath, breathing heavily) ... Maybe that's just me, I don't know. It's all just something I'm really proud of."

The showgirl motif points back to Swift's stated theme for the album, which is that it reflects her experiences balancing show business and her personal life on the nearly two-year Eras Concert Tour. The "Sweat and Vanilla Perfume Portofino Orange Glitter" version of the new album shows the singer in a bejeweled costume in the bath. 

Swifties expecting augmented variants of the album with added tracks to be released later will not have those desires fullfilled this time, Swift said.

"With Tortured Poets Department, I was like here's a data dump of everything I thought, felt, experienced in two or three years. Here's 31 songs. This is 12," she said in a recent podcast. "There's not a thirteenth, there's not other ones coming. This is the record I've been wanting to make for a very long time. I also wanted it to be every single song is on this album for hundreds of reasons, and you couldn't take one out and it be the same album, you couldn't add one and be... It's just right."

She continued: "I tend to write lots and lots of music, so it's a temptation to release lots of music. But oftentimes, I wanted to do an album that was so focused on quality and on the theme and everything fitting together like a perfect puzzle that these 12 songs for my 12th album, I feel like we achieved that and I'm really happy about that."
