After Sunrise EP from Circles Around The Sun and Mikaela Davis

After Sunrise is the new collaboration EP from Circles Around The Sun and Mikaela Davis. Released alongside a nostalgic, spaced-out Super 8 music video, this second recorded cooperation between the acts pools their shared experience to reach beyond their sonic comfort zones.

"After Sunrise" is a Sergio Mendes deep cut from Primal Roots, the legendary Brazilian composer and bandleader's sophomore offering with mid-'70s outfit Brazil ‘77. Circles Around The Sun and Davis' treatment of the track compliments Mendes' melody with a funky, pulsing backbeat, sending the listener spiraling into the combo's updated homage to the bossa boom. The accompanying music video amplifies this fantasy effect with a hazy window into the artists' process, featuring shots of the members jamming in the studio and enjoying the outdoors.

Davis first recorded with Circles Around The Sun on "Language," adding harp to the eponymous single from the psychedelic quartet's adventurous 2023 album. The pairing's upcoming EP will feature a version of this song recorded live in Boston, alongside unheard original compositions "Gloaming Way" and "Moonbow." This release is set to coincide with the joint tour between Circles Around The Sun and Mikaela Davis & Southern Star announced in November 2023, which will make stops along the East Coast and Midwest in late-February and March 2024.
