2019 Grammy Winner — Best Alternative Music Album

The follow-up to Grammy-winning Morning Phase!

Single standard weight 33 1/3 red vinyl

Includes 4-panel booklet

Colors, 2017 10-track album from the six-time Grammy winner, and the hugely-anticipated follow-up to the 2015 Grammy Album of the Year winner Morning Phase.

"I've had some trippy things happen in my life," Beck told Rolling Stone, of that awards ceremony (Morning Phase also won Grammys for Best Engineered Album - Non Classical, and Best Rock Album). "But that was up there, for sure."

Colors, an album that Beck had apparently been working on for two years at the time of accepting his Morning Phase Grammy, is full of "complex songs all trying to do two or three things at once," he says. "It's not retro and not modern. To get everything to sit together so it doesn't sound like a huge mess was quite an undertaking."

Beck brought in producer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Sia), who was a keyboardist on 2002's tour in support of his Sea Change album. The pair recorded Colors, reported to be "relentlessly upbeat" and reflective of Beck's marriage to Marissa Ribisi and fatherhood, in Kurstin's home in Los Angeles. Confirmed track titles include "Fix Me" and "Up All Night."

"The best songs make you glad to be alive. It doesn't matter if it's Beethoven or the Monkees. That's what I was thinking about a lot," Beck says.

Beck's newest, issued on standard weight red vinyl, is pressed by "The Pallas Group for Capitol Records". There is also a double-disc, 45-RPM version available for those who can't sit still for more than 2-3 songs. Perhaps it sounds better than the 33-1/3 version, but it would have to be otherworldly - this pressing was flawless (typical for Pallas), with no groove noise, no flaws (tics/pops) or warp, and a stunningly deep, wide soundstage with a warm, involving mix. In short, you cannot go wrong with the "standard" 120-gram version...it simply sounds amazing. Bravo!
