The Spin Clean® Record Washer System has been one of the best value record washers since 1975. It is an extremely cost effective alternative, to all of the higher priced, automatic vacuum cleaner type machines. It uses a proprietary cleaning fluid that does not leave any build up or film on your records. It is also one of the few systems on the market that will clean albums, 45's and 78's. With the Spin-Clean system you mix the concentrated record cleaning solution with water in the yellow reservoir base (small tank), The record stands vertically in the tray (as pictured), resting on adjustable rollers, as you rotate the record manually it passes through a set of two brushes that simultaneously deep cleans it on both sides. After you wash your records, you dry them off with a lint free cotton cloth.

Over the Top Reviews in Stereophile and The Absolute Sound Magazine:

"...Meet my new best friend, Spin-Clean...Sublimely easy, there's nothing to plug in...Does it work? Does it ever." - Neil Gader, theabsolutesound.com and AVguide.com, January 29, 2010

"...it's cheap and it really, really works...I cleaned some dirty, fingerprint-encrusted records, and when I removed them from the vat, all dirt and fingerprints were gone...not everyone wants to spend hundreds of bucks on a vacuum machine, and the Spin Clean got the job done." - Michael Fremer, Stereophile, February 2010

"...To me, the most important part of the system is the Spin-Clean Washer fluid, which has already become my favorite solution for cleaning vinyl...The unit is bright yellow for a reason: it allows one to see the amount of crud that has been removed from the grooves, as the dirt will rest at the bottom of the Spin-Clean unit...The Spin-Clean system works exactly as advertised. There was no denying it...the Spin-Clean Record Washer system is the best $60 one can spend to care for their LPs and enrich their listening environment...an insane value. It gets my heartiest recommendation." - Nels Ferre, Enjoy the Music.com, January 2010

15 Reasons Why You Should Buy A SPIN CLEAN Record Washing System
"Beyond Compare in Record Care"

  1. Spin Clean is the only record washing system on the market that is a “bath type” complete record cleaning system.
  2. Spin Clean is the ultimate in record care, easy to use. Just spin the record two or three times in the Spin Clean record washing system, remove and wipe dry with the special lint-free cloth. Presto, it's clean.
  3. Spin Clean leaves no residue on the record to build up and come off on your needle later.
  4. Spin Clean removes the static from your record as it is cleaned.
  5. Spin Clean removes fingerprints, grease, smoke, film and dirt from any size record: 45s, LPs & 78s.
  6. Spin Clean is the only record washing system that has a special washer fluid that encapsulates the dirt and keeps the dirt suspended in the system instead of re-depositing it back onto the record.
  7. Spin Clean record washing system comes with enough washer fluid to clean over 700 records (Spin Clean comes with enough washer fluid to fill the system 14 times. Each filling will clean up to 50 records just add 3 capfuls to water and go.)
  8. Spin Clean is the most economical way to clean any record, less than a penny a record.
  9. Spin Clean contains no alkalines, soap solutions or phosphates and is biodegradable.
  10. Spin Clean is safe to use, easy on your hands, and it works with hard or soft water and warm or cold water.
  11. Spin Clean does not leave any solutions on your record to evaporate and leave behind dirt deposits (you remove all the fluid when you dry the record).
  12. Spin Clean extends the life of your records by removing dirt, thus reducing needle wear and keeping your records “like new” improving their sound.
  13. Spin Clean was tested by a private laboratory and the results were remarkable. After Spin Clean had been used output sensitivity was substantially increased and channel separation was improved. Also, amplified record noise was reduced. (An STR 100 test record was used. Test report furnished on request).
  14. Spin Clean has dual velvet brushes that gently and effectively remove dirt particles. No other system cleans both sides of the record at the same time.
  15. Spin Clean uses no electric or other costly power source. For a few minutes of your time and very little money, Spin Clean will work for you. It's a sound investment to protect your investment in sound. No record collector can afford not to have the Spin Clean record washing system. It makes a perfect gift everytime.

I have used the Spin-Clean for about a year, and and I can't believe how much better my records sound! It's cheap and does the job very well. It's simple to use and, truth be told, I really enjoy the process of cleaning records with this device. I've never damaged a label with this product. Highly recommended.

I was skeptical at first, but, after cleaning one record and then listening to the difference it made, I was convinced that I am in fact, an idiot for not buying one one a long time ago. Do not hesitate, this thing works.

With this set you thoroughly clean your records much easier than anything I've used before. It is a manual clean but highly effective. Good unit.

Like some others here, I was quite dubious about this product. But a vacuum machine is way out of my price range, so I tried the Spin Clean. I was astonished at the results -- clean, residue-free records with noticeable reduction in pops and clicks. This really seems to get the dirt out. In fact, I purposely chose the 25 worst records in my collection to start. By the time I was finished, the water in the cleaning unit was nearly black!

I also use Gruv-Glide on my discs. The Spin-Clean gets the gunk and dirt out, which helps tremendously with surface noise, but it won't do much for a record that has been mistracking. Gruv-Glide does. At any rate, using Spin-Clean first and then Gruv-Glide, the result is that my vinyl collection never has sounded better.

A few points to consider: Work slowly. Take your time. You're cleaning records, and that is a job that takes patience. Also, my drying technique got better as I went along, so starting with your lesser albums really is a good idea.

I clean my vinyl differently then what Spin Clean recommends. I clean my vinyl with MoFi hand cleaning brush and one cleaning solution. Then rinse with steam distilled water in the Spin Clean. Just got QRP pressing of Cat Stevens Tea for the Tillerman, played it sounded great then cleaned it sounded fantastic. For the price it's worth it.

The best value for record cleaning.

Hella Cheap, But Perfect For Cleaning 45's

There's plastic, and then there's cheap-ass plastic. This is cheap-ass plastic, and under no circumstances should this product be confused with--or compared to--a professional vacuum/VPI system.

Keep valuable, thick or audiophile records away from it. Anything thicker than standard LPs will hardly rotate through the tight, non-adjustable brushes. And the little cheesecloth rags that come with it leave lint all over the record surface, as well as charge the vinyl with static electricity as you dry. After a few cycles, the plastic rollers start jumping out of their slots as you clean (a dab of Lithium grease on the pivots solves this.)

Basically its junk, but makes cleaning dirty 45's a breeze.

NOTE: Rotate the record as you lower/press it into the brush jaws. This will keep dirt particles that are embedded in the brushes from damaging the grooves. Do the same when you remove the record. NEVER PUSH OR PULL THE RECORD PERPENDICULAR TO THE BRUSHES!

The system was easy to use although it took a while to develop a workflow that shortened the time per disc. Used distilled water but was a little disappointed at the level of residual noise. Have not tried it on really dirty records as yet. Good product nevertheless, especially for the price

I used the spin clean on several 50 year old albums and they now sound quiet. New albums cleaned sound as quiet as CDs. This is a great cheap record cleaner

My first impression of this when I removed it from the box: chintzy! After I started using it it became apparent that this is an elegant design: minimal complexity, to facilitate nothing going wrong with it, and it really does a great job cleaning records. This is a great value...

I too was sceptical about the reviews I had been reading regarding this economical solution to cleaning records. So I bought one and all I can say is I am sure glad I did. I had been debating for months on whether or not to buy a VPI machine but the cost was keeping me from it. Disc Doctor had been doing a decent job for the most part but I felt there was a better solution to be had because the Disc Doctor just wasn't cleaning to my standard. Finally the Spin Clean became available again and I jumped on it. The results are truly amazing. Records I cleaned with the Disc Doctor system were still somewhat noisy but after cleaning with the Spin Clean they were nearly dead quiet. I highly recommend this system to anyone who wants to obtain a true cleaning for their vinyl at a very modest price....even at the raised price of seventy-nine bucks!

Can a $60.00 record washer really work? You bet! I run all the albums I buy through the Spin-Clean, new and used, and they come out clean and quiet. I use distilled water and have lots of microfiber towels on hand for drying. Also I would recommend rinsing the brushes out after using to prolong their life.

First, yes, there are problems with the rollers. Call Spin-Clean, they will send you, at no cost, new rollers that can't come apart. Second, this is a remarkable cleaner. Following cleaning, there is neither residue nor static. Some albums that had been cleaned previously, including some with the most regarded cleaning machine available, became even more quiet. I can't say this will do as great a job on really dirty records as does Disc Doctor. I can say records first cleaned with Disc Doctor will benefit from a Spin-Clean bath. Some hints, first, get a bunch of extra clothes. Second, according to the owner of the company, the clothes are reusable by a simple machine washing without any fabric softener. Third, use a cloth underneath the album while drying the top side. This machine rendered my Japanese pressing of Eno's "Before And After Science" nearly dead quiet. That's quite an achievement given the subdued nature to the second side of this album.

I knew this would be a budget product and it is. Yet everything was very straight forward and well designed....sort of. On the very first record one of the little rollers broke in half. I keep going and once I got the feel of spinning the record it went well. Results: this cleaner did a great job. Some old dirty records are like new! Bottom line is you get what you pay for. As a true budget product this works very well.

Not very "High Tech" but it does the job. I can't compare to the Nitty Gritty vacuum type cleaners because I never owned one. I was using Disc Doctor with the rubber holders and cleaning manually. Manually seems the least effective. The cleaning pads get more and more contaminated with dirt as you use them. With the Spin-Clean the dirt collects in the bottom of the bath. You know its working! I love it. Common sense tells me it's better than the vacuum types.

AMAZING!

I wanted a Nitty Gritty. I wanted a VPI, but the prices were more than I wanted to pay right now. So, when I decided to try the SPIN CLEAN, I was a bit skeptical when it arrived. It is very simple to use and my first impression upon opening the box was "too simple". I have now cleaned well over 500 LPS. It is indeed simply amazing! The records are cleaned of all dirt, fingerprints, smudges, etc. leaving them looking and sounding virtually like new. It's shocking how much dirt ends up in the bottom of the Spin Clean resevoir, even from relatively clean looking records. The sound quality improves dramatically, static electricity totally gone. What else is amazing to me is how much cleaning solution that I still have left even after cleaning 500+ LPs. Sure I'd like a machine with vacuum abilities like Nitty Grittys... but this is such a great alternative... Relatively Inexpensive, Simple, Easy, and Very Effective. Try it, you'll like it.

An elegant, simple, & inexpensive answer to a vexing problem. I can't believe it took me so long to discover this thing, since apparently they've been making them in Pittsburgh since 1968! It's like a great kitchen gadget- I couldn't live without a pepper mill or mortar & pestle, but I don't need a motor on them either. Lately I've had incredible luck with rare vintage thrift store finds- NM to Ex+, but filthy. They've been piling up, then I got this thing. It's actually fun to clean them! Farm dirt, lichens, fingerprints, petrified popsicle drips, even Precambrian mollusks dissolve & sink to the bottom, leaving the fluid clear & the label dry. Hold up that 1958 Audio Fidelity copy of Mohammed El-Bakkar's 'Port Said', stare in disbelief at the cover, then say, "Her life is in your hands, dude." But then you must say, "Jesus, man, could you change the channel? Man, come on, I had a rough night, and I hate the f#@%*n' Eagles, man!
