Like certain other sunlit Southern California songwriters, Matt Costa has drifted through a strange and varied life in music. After great early successes, touring the world and selling hundreds of thousands of records on the back of his freewheeling debut, he took some unexpected turns, spent the last few years wandering, scored a film about LSD and the 1960s, hosted a midnight radio show, went on some long journeys. But he was also laying the groundwork for a second act, focusing in on a new statement of intent to re-enter the public eye, wiser now and infused with experience. 2018 brings that record, Santa Rosa Fangs, to the world.
Entitled "Santa Rosa Fangs," the album cuts through the mystique of Matt's native California, the sunlight and dark corners of the landscape and its people. Produced by Peter Matthew Bauer (the Walkmen) and Nick Stumpf (French Kicks) It's a record that's both personal and universal, telling the story of Matt Costa's wandering journey through the certainty in his voice.
