A Home Run

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, June 19, 2025 by Andre Excellent pressing, dead flat without sharp edge. I hate to pay a high price for warp records. The recording simple amazing good separation with an elegant bass and clear mid and highs. Recommended.

Typical AP perfection

5 Stars
Posted Friday, May 30, 2025 by Jake Can't believe no one has reviewed this yet as it's the best selling Pablo title. I'll do my civic duty. Typical AP perfection: flat, dead quiet. Jacket on par with the Prestige series. I was surprised to find out this is MONO - it's not listed - and it's all the better for it. Now the real stuff: this was recorded in California, it is NOT an RVG recording. As such it sounds different. Not worse - DIFFERENT. Low end is stronger than an RVG album. At first I thought it was muddy. I turned down my sub 30% and wham, it opened up and unfolded like a flower. Tatum and Webster are both slightly more recessed than an RVG recording would have them. And I like it. A lot. This one is for LISTENING. Save others for your demo choice. Pour a drink and let this all time classic wash over you like a warm breeze. A welcome change from the million RVG albums I've been listening to. Just gorgeous.

A treasure! (music 10/audio 10)

Posted Sunday, April 27, 2025 by Jimmy Jet Wow - I don’t think I’ve ever heard Miles play so aggressively on All Blues as he does here - I mean, at some points, it almost sounds like he’s over blowing. Then when Sonny comes in on sax, he’s energized too, maybe not as much as Miles, but this band is certainly “up” on this particularly night in the club. Don’t get me wrong, when I say things like aggressive and energized, It’s just that this is an interpretation of a lot of these songs I’ve never heard before, and it’s nice, gives you a new perspective and makes it sorta new and fresh.

Now, for the audio - it’s up there with some of the quietest vinyl I have. I’m not sure what Kevin Gray did when he cut the lacquers, but it sounds like high frequencies are cut into the vertical realm, so it’s a mono recording cut as stereo (not to be confused with simulated stereo - not what I’m saying). But the frequency spectrum is spread across both vertical and lateral grooves - so don’t switch to mono!

Funky

5 Stars
Posted Saturday, April 26, 2025 by Anonymous Today I received my copy. I was a little bit concerned about mixed Third Man pressing plant reviews. But I can testify my copy is free of ticks and pops, and it is flat. The album is definitely sourced from an analog source mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling. It sounds really good! The jacket and inner sleeve are acceptable. I would have preferred gate folded. Then again, it is $30.00 The line up of musicians is top, and it is very funky with Jazz arrangements.

On Can Hope

4 Stars
Posted Friday, March 14, 2025 by Anthony There are some real individual gems here among the 'required' fillers. Still, I'm glad to have this one in hopes that some of Etta's outstanding releases like Blue Gardenia and Mystery Lady will get the attention they deserve and come out on vinyl. Please.

Not what I had hoped for

3 Stars
Posted Monday, January 20, 2025 by Anonymous I was very excited for this release, and bought it with the belief that it would be the ultimate sounding version of this classic album! I was wrong. It’s ok, but definitely not great. I compared it against my original US pressing from 1977, and my white label promo pressing from the same year. Both of them easily beat the Impex. What the Impex really lacks is the transparency and extended top end that you get on the original pressings. I understand that the master tapes were brand new in 1977, and that they don’t improve with age. Its unfortunate. Good news is that it isn’t too hard to find an original pressing in good condition.

Way Underrated

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, January 16, 2025 by Don Allen I picked this up on a recommendation, and I'm glad I did. This is now one of my favorite Monk outings. The sound quality is extraordinary - It is up to Analogue Productions standards, even though it's just Columbia.

33 or 45 rpm?

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, January 9, 2025 by Blue A very charming presentation of this lp from Evan's classic trio. Classic warm analog feel. My first choice is still the AP 45 rpm: a clearer separation and balance of the instruments - La Faro's bass really benefits in this respect. A crisper clearer more spacious sound overall.

Sonny Rollins - East Broadway Run Down Product No: AIMP 512466

Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Impulse (Acoustic Sounds Series)

Breathtaking Sound!

5 Stars
Posted Sunday, December 29, 2024 by Paul Couldn’t be happier with this new acoustic sounds LP, the sound quality is everything I had hoped for with this series, absolutely dead quiet vinyl, the quieter parts of the phenomenal title track like the bass solo that slows the whole piece down is incredible. This is Sonny at his most far out with the Love Supreme band backing him, Elvin’s drums are a sensation. Couldn’t be happier, acoustic sounds and QRP have done it again! Top notch mastering, beautiful glossy cover, lovely 10/10 vinyl. Don’t miss out on this one!

Exceeded expectations

5 Stars
Posted Sunday, December 15, 2024 by Anonymous This is obviously an important release. The music is mellow and the solos are tasteful. Sonically, it exceeded expectations. Paul Chambers' bass is wonderful and Jimmy Cobb comes through clearly. Miles is piercing. Highly recommend.

The timeless Jazz classic finally on SACD in STEREO!

5 Stars
Posted Sunday, December 8, 2024 by PGK This is the second time that this album has been issued on SACD. The first time was in 2011 in Japan and that SACD release was in mono.

AP has released this album on SACD in stereo so now we have the best of both worlds for those who prefer one version over the other.

IMO, the stereo version on AP is THE definitive version regardless of your channel preference.

Five stars for the music and five stars for this SACD reissue.
