Posted Thursday, March 26, 2020 by Anonymous Beautifully played Beethoven and Brahms chamber works. This is a very immediate (and intimate) sounding recording.

The LP has a very quiet surface (par for the course for Quality Record Pressings and Analogue Productions).

Posted Friday, March 24, 2017 by M Baskett Having been derpived of my only copy of this album I'm glad to have this one as the replacement. The sound is first rate. This one is a keeper. In fact, I was going to suggest to Chad he use this album for his first UHQR. Wouldn't that be something?

Performances and Sound - Collection Worthy

Posted Thursday, February 2, 2017 by Anonymous The new AP version sounds excellent. Clarity, sound stage, and presentation are spot on. That said, for the first time in quite awhile, I did have to clean the LP in my RCM (it wasn't as quiet as most AP releases I receive, now it's just fine and quiet). I have a few versions including the original and Classic Records. The AP version is better sounding than the 180 gram Classic version and original. The sleeve packaging is very nice, however, the photo transfers have become more blurred over the years. The original has that wonderful Encyclopedia Britannica feel from the early 60s (that's gone unfortunately). Que Sera, the music survives!

Another Steller Release

Posted Saturday, August 27, 2011 by audiofan The sonics are the same as on its predecessor (see "Getting Ready"), but I favor (slightly) the song selection on "Texas Cannonball"- the intensity is still there, but by the time he cut this second album (for Leon Russell's Shelter label) King just seems to feel more "at home" and relaxed. The music, however, burns brightly, and QPR's pressing reveals the sound to be as complex, beautiful, and involving as the surreal cover shot.
