Posted Saturday, April 27, 2024 by GRB Ray Wylie Hubbard assembled an amazing group of co-stars (Ringo, Joe Walsh, Don Was, Chris Robinson, Pam Tillis)...and produced a pretty amazing album. Hard outlaw country rock is the only way I can describe it. From the first line of Bad Trick: Don't get any on you if you go to Nashville, you know this guy has been down the road. It is well produced and wonderfully played. Introspective and humorous at times as well as irreverent. Buy it!

Turned out to be my most pleasant surprise purchases of the year. Americana/country/bluegrass with an old school vibe but there is also other influences present in some songs. The recording/ mastering is great, sound stage, separation and her voice is presented beautifully!!! A little surface noise but a good cleaning took care of most of it. Five stars!!!

****Update**** more than a year later and I must say, in the pound for pound enjoyment factor, this may very well be my favorite album released in the last 10 years… maybe 20 ??… I have since bought a couple of the colored variants and autographed copies and have seen Sierra live… absolutely stunning!!! Posted Tuesday, October 3, 2023 by William I decided to take the leap, despite owning most of ELP's studio albums, because I've liked most most of the albums I've purchased with half- speed mastering (early Who, Roxy Music/Avalon, some Stones, etc.). In short, ELP never sounded better. Thumbs up on the mastering job. It's got punch, clarity, and separation. The Barbarian blew me away.

Posted Thursday, November 24, 2022 by Ricke A Gazda "A Night In San Francisco" (Van Morrison Release 1994) Van shouts out Georgie Fame and a Jazz vocalist entered my ears with a smoothness of silk. That small portion of that release played in my head for years. A month ago I stumbled upon this release: "Cool Cat Blues" and was totally blown away. Georgie's voice, the arrangements and high wire act that connects Jazz with the Blues is tremendous. He joins once again with Van Morrison on "Moondance" which throws me right back to that 1994 Morrison release. He then adds Boz Scaggs to the mix along with the remainder of the entourage of cuts completes this package. As a Blues enthusiast, I can not come up with another release that travels this path with such completeness. Close your eyes and picture the wardrobe of the "Dick Van Dyke" show and the performances during their house parties within their New Rochelle home. This will take you there. All this great music and time travel too! Don't miss this one!!!!

I bought this new, did not open it up for a while because I have an original copy. When I did unwrap it, I found a few major glue blobs in the vinyl that would not clean out. This made the vinyl unplayable. The second same album I purchased locally was better. So take yer chances I guess. BMG 2016 remaster.

Grundman and Gray proven wrong about half-speed masters

Probably better than if Grundman or Gray were to put out the same title on a 45 RPM version -- who both openly pooh-pooh half-speed mastering. This is the best sounding vinyl version I've ever heard of this title.
