Posted Sunday, June 7, 2026 by Bill I do not have another record to compare this to but compared to the CD it is worlds better. I would say it still sounds somewhat "modern" and compressed. Still sounds very good though and I believe this is the way it was recorded. It's got very extended highs but they do sound good. Lows are there as well. I am not the best reviewer but figured since no one else left a review I would. Please leave me a big tip.

Posted Friday, May 22, 2026 by Nathan T Thunder Road followed by Tenth Avenue Freeze Out might be the best 2 opening track album kick off in Rock and Roll History. Talk about making a statement. This album has always been in my top 15-20 albums of all time and I can't say enough about the quality of this SACD. I have the Classic Records LP and that one is sick but pretty pricey these days. If you have an SACD player this is a great way to get a mind blowing "hearing it for the first time" experience with this album.

My 1st U.S. Pressing sounds a tad congested...but this version is much improved. I've Got To Have You has so much impact! Highly recommend this title while it's still in print.

I was fortunate to have recorded this show live and have retained and listened back to my tapes over the years. This version on vinyl is the closest capture I’ve heard to date. Like most live concerts recreated on vinyl, you do lose some second set transitions which should be expected. Thank you for these amazing titles!

My Copy Was Dead Quiet — and I Got Completely Lost In It

Posted Sunday, May 17, 2026 by BrighamDoc I'd heard from a lot of people that this album frustrated them — too much surface noise cutting into all those quiet, fragile passages. That wasn't my experience at all. This pressing is dead silent with just a bit of the normal vinyl woosh. Flat vinyl, barely a click or pop, and a soundstage that just opens up wide and beautiful and pulls you in. I stopped thinking about the equipment completely and got lost in the vibe — which is exactly what Pharoah and the Floating Point Ensemble are going for. The interplay between his tenor and the orchestra hangs in the air and the quiet actually lands the way it should.

It is far superior to my Japanese EMI pressing, plus there is added material on the second and third discs and a very informative booklet included.

Posted Sunday, May 10, 2026 by Joey1127 Before you even play it, you must clean it on a RCM or you will have a crackling, popping, snapping masterpiece on your hands...after cleaning, this title sounds fantastic. I compared it to a late 70's Mo-Fi OMR pressing and a first U.S. pressing. This version is on par with the First U.S. pressing, but far better dynamics. I'd get a copy before they're out of print cause it's going to go fast!

Over the years, I've had several formats of this release, including cassette but NONE compared to this! Every note produced on every instrument is crystal clear and sharp! It was like having George Benson in the room! Absolute silence with no noise on either disc. I've NEVER heard "This Masquerade" or any other track sound like they do on this version! Excellent production of the heavy gate-fold jacket as well! Thank you to Chad and the whole team!
