I like bass and there's plenty here. I don't have any other vinyl version to compare to but I won't be looking for anything else.

It turned out almost every One-Step release had been passing through a DSD transfer, unbeknownst to much of the audiophile world. And for someone like you, who understands how delicate cartridge voicing and mastering lineage affect playback character, it’s a frustrating breach of transparency.

Atomic Punk Sound

Dave's vocals have more punch and definition. Great SACD remaster. What I was hoping for. Get it before it goes out of print.

Posted Thursday, July 3, 2025 by Jimmy James My dad bought this album for me in NYC on a business trip in 1970 for my birthday. I was 11. Not sure I got the music but I thought it was pretty darn cool. Then this was the first CD I bought in 1983 when they came in blister packs and hung on a wall at the music store. CD was considered a novelty at that time but gear stores had to sell CD's to sell CD players. So I dug it again. One of the first SACD's I bought as well, a Sony release I believe. Still have it. This one deletes them all. Dynamics and detail in spades. Percussion instruments really come alive as well as the piercing highs of Carlos's guitar. Digging it all over again. Highly recommended.

The clarity of the percussion really stands out to me. Whom ever remastered this did an outstanding job. 3 or 4 of these titles being reissued would make me very happy.

Head / Mind Blown - Superb Sonic Experience

Posted Sunday, March 23, 2025 by alternating.bit While I'll admit I only own a couple of other Original Master Recording records, I've never been so impressed by both the sound quality and packaging of a record like this, and I own over a thousand records. What's also interesting is I originally owned this album back in the '80s on cassette, then CD later and I was accustomed to the somewhat limited headroom on the album recording whenever those super punching drum hits kick in during tracks like "Dirty White Boy" and "Head Games." Yet this vinyl recording manages to lift the headroom to allow for those drums to not sound as compressed or clipped. In some ways I was alarmed by this because of what I was used to, yet ultimately I'm absolutely impressed and thrilled by the mastering for this vinyl release. Ironically I bought this album along with the 2-LP 45 RPM set of Foreigner's first album and this one actually sounds better to me; somehow deeper and with a wider frequency range. Highly recommend.

After playing this disc, you will forever forget every other version of this album you have heard in the past 55 years. If you have to buy only one SACD this year, make it this one.

Kudos to Mobile Fidelity (finally, at long last, they did a superb job).

A Collector Copy?

Posted Saturday, January 25, 2025 by Anonymous I know "Off the wall" like the palm of my hand. I still have my original copy from 1979, and I still listen to it regularly. In addition to it, I also have a an additional 1st issue, a Half Speed Mastered copy that it is supposed to be the audiophile one ( I do not care for half speed albums because they lack of low end range (Bernie Grundman's words), a 180 gram copy from Music on Vinyl, which is a decent digital issue and a CD copy.

So, I can compared the Mofi reissue with all of them. As we all know, "Off the wall" was produced by Mr. Quincy, engineered by Bruce Swedien using Acusonic Recording process and mastered by Bernie Grundman. Can you have a better team to improve it? If you like this album, you only need an original, mint copy. It is superb.

"Off the Wall" is an album that makes sense for a Mofi issue because, it is an analog production (there are not drum machines, programmed synthesizers, etc). All you hear is done by real people. So, I am glad that Mofi decided to

This LP easily stands out. It's a significant improvement in every way detail, depth and organic for lack of better words. I'm very pleased to have this release.
