Get that old feeling (again)

4 Stars
Posted Saturday, August 5, 2023 by Marcella van Kraaij Now my system is on the highest level possible within the given budget. I as a jazz fan, wanted to add some end 50 van Gelder recordings to my collection. Of course there are reissues or original available on Discogs, but actually I prefer new (reissues). That said I was so excited Analogue Productions announced they are releasing a lot of Prestige records now and in the nearby future. Regarding this release, I can only say very well done. You know it’s not only fantastic sounding, it even brings the feeling back you want to experience listing to this sort of music. And besides that the price for those reinsure is nice as well. So highly recommend. With love from the Netherlands.

Outward Bound

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, April 13, 2023 by Anthony High quality recording with a very wide stereo presentation. Freddie Hubbard is in top form and is a perfect compliment on trumpet to Dolphy's sax, clarinet and flute. They are backed by a strong rhythm section especially a driving Roy Haynes on drums. The group's version of Green Dolphin Street is fresh and innovative.

Posted Monday, September 5, 2022 by JW Man, if you haven’t heard Kenny Dorham this is the one to start your collection. One of the greats. This album just makes me feel good! Sit back and close your eyes. This is the pressing to get unless you can find an OG in ex or better. I can’t believe it not sold out. Better hurry!

Totally Chill

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, November 23, 2017 by Rick Am a big Cobb fan and really enjoy listening to this after a long day of work. All ballads but many have a bluesy feel. The usual kudos to QRP - quiet pressing with lots of detail and rich tone.

Lightnin' Hopkins - Soul Blues

Great pressing but sure sounds like a mono

4 Stars
Posted Sunday, November 19, 2017 by Anonymous As usual, the AP pressing sounds great. But this is supposed to be a Prestige Stereo reissue and it sounds exactly like a mono recording. Hopkins voice is front and center and bass, drums and guitar are packed in with him in center stage. It says this was recorded from a needle drop as the tapes have long been missing. Makes me wonder if they got a hold of a mint mono original pressing and confused it with a stereo version.

How does vinyl get any better!

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, May 24, 2017 by Kevin I just can't believe how good this vinyl is!!! Sound-stage is great, detail of the instruments is perfect. The quality is the best in every way, and of course Eric and company are in top form. Jazz in this style is progressive, but its so interesting and complex, I love it.

Jimmy Witherspoon - Evenin' Blues

Best in Show

5 Stars
Posted Friday, January 20, 2017 by E F Young As a subscriber to this series, I can say I've loved almost everything I've received so far, but with just a few titles left, this, to me, is the best yet. This and Arnett Cobb's Party Time are the five star standouts. The sound leaps out of the speakers. The vocals and flute on Evenin' are just amazing. Very happy.
