Blues at it's Best

5 Stars
Posted Tuesday, June 21, 2016 by Jonathan Tinn This is really an excellent blues album. It is recorded really well and does justice to the great performance by Little Hatch.

If you love Muddy Waters "Folk Singer", this one should absolutely be on your must-have list.

Mind Blowing "Blow By Blow"

The Good, Bad and Ugly

3 Stars
Posted Thursday, June 2, 2016 by Anonymous First off, I have the earlier Analogue Productions Yes - Fragile press from 2005 remastered by Hoffman/Gray, I just got this new pressing (5-2016) of the same album remastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent. The Good news is that this new pressing, does sound much better, lifting a veil and bringing back some missing dynamics. In short, its a good improvement over the earlier press and remastering. The Bad, the pressing is poor, this one is warped, and almost skips in one area. It is also a heck of a lot thinner than the earlier Acoustech pressing and lacks it's quality. The Ugly, the cover looks like a poor photo shoot, the colors are not even right, the Acoustech cover, inserts etc are the by far the best...... oh and did I mention that the Insert on this new version is apparently glued into the the cover and won't come out, I wish this was all QRP

God awful

1 Stars
Posted Saturday, May 14, 2016 by Ted This is a God awful remaster. Don't waste your money. Just buy the Mobile Fidelity version. 1,000 times better. This remaster has squashed all the highs and the bass is very muddy. The original album even sounds better than this hunk of vinyl. I don't know what they we're thinking, but they should have stuck to the original mastering notes. Again don't waste your money!

Posted Saturday, May 7, 2016 by Anonymous I have a dozen or so Analogue Productions LPs. Every one of them is excellent and this one is no exception. This is a fun record too. Don't hesitate, get it.

Great!

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, April 21, 2016 by John C An excellent presentation of an excellent album. Admittedly, I have never owned this album on vinyl before but I would be hard pressed to believe there is a better release out there. Very quiet pressing. Incredibly balanced presentation yet it retains energy and dynamics. On The Girl From the North Country it feels like Bob and Johnny are in the room!

Lightnin' Hopkins - Goin' Away Product No: APRJ 1073

Good stuff!

5 Stars
Posted Monday, April 18, 2016 by Jeff R I'm no fan of the blues, but I have the prestige record subscription. This title showed up and I thought, I'll give it a listen. Great stuff. I'm surprised I enjoyed it so much. As usual great sound quality, totally flat record, and quiet surface. Keep up the excellent work Chad... The subscriptions are just stellar!

Worth The Wait...

5 Stars
Posted Thursday, April 14, 2016 by Craig Smith This album was my intro to Diana Krall when it was released, and has been in my top ten albums since then. I'm very happy with this pressing. The music speaks for itself. Worth The Wait...YES!

Janis Joplin - Pearl Product No: AMOB 454
Available: InStock
Category: 45 RPM Vinyl Record
Label: Mobile Fidelity

Hands down, a KILLER re-issue of Pearl

5 Stars
Posted Monday, April 4, 2016 by Joey1127 This is an amazing sounding re-master of Janis' last LP. It really sounds F'ing amazing and will have you screaming CRY BABY at the top of your lungs. While the Cheap Thrills on the Sliver Label leaves something to be desired, this is an OUTSTANDING release by Mo-Fi and I would HIGHLY recommend a copy before it's out of print...and it's going to go fast!!!

Big Brother & The Holding Company - Cheap Thrills Product No: AMOB 453

Category: 45 RPM Vinyl Record

Not as good as the original Columbia 360 Sound

3 Stars
Posted Monday, April 4, 2016 by Joey1127 So, this is NOT an ORIGINAL MASTER RECORDING release. This is one of those Silver Label jobs. It has a very tipped up treble and just doesn't sound as good as I would have expected a 45RPM pressing from Mo-Fi to sound. It's not bad, but it's just not worth the cost. Seek out an original Columbia 360 Sound pressing and you will love this recording...however, I'd pass on this re-issue, unless you just have a thing for 45RPM vinyl.

Compressed and flat

3 Stars
Posted Sunday, March 27, 2016 by Mike A This reissue is flat and without good bass, compared to the cd!. and that is not saying much as I have been buying a lot of Audiophile titles of late with great results. This one misses the mark big time sorry.

Excellent remastering of early Living Stereo

4 Stars
Posted Monday, March 14, 2016 by Jonathan I've heard quite a number of reissues of this recording over the last few decades. I'd never really considered this to be one of the great RCAs in technical terms - most remasterings have been a little too plump, subdued and warm sounding, lacking in inner detail and hall ambience as a result. I don't think the 2-track master really helps as compared to the 3 track recordings - you can still hear the "hole" in the middle even in this reissue where the sound is relatively diffuse. This reissue nevertheless sounds quite different to all the others - the top end, though perhaps a little metallic and brittle at times, has noticeably more energy and clarity than other reissues and as a result, the performance presents itself afresh with a "drive" lacking in other reissues. I think this particular reissue - more than any of the others in the series apart from the Rozsa / Benjamin disc also recently released - diverts more off the beaten path in technical terms, but in an advantageous way.

Eric Dolphy - At The Five Spot, Vol. 1 Product No: APRJ 8260
Available: InStock
Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Analogue Productions (Prestige)

the beginnings of a revolution!

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, March 2, 2016 by Emmanuel the music captured here is pivotal to the evolution of free jazz. Dolphy and Little's innovative approach were not always welcome by listener's and fellow musicians but the soldiered on because they believed they were onto something good.

this reissue does justice to the music! Absolutely 100% authentic analog presentation.

i can't find a single fault..

More people need to hear Dolphy's early stuff.

Booker Ervin - The Freedom Book Product No: APRJ 7295
Available: InStock
Category: 180 Gram Vinyl Record
Label: Analogue Productions (Prestige)

Freedom is good thing

5 Stars
Posted Wednesday, March 2, 2016 by Emmanuel Another stellar reissue by Analogue productions from the venerable Prestige catalogs. Booker is not well known to most Jazz fans but after hearing this record on this reissue you will wish you knew him, but even better you will be glad you bought this record.

As usual AP has spared no expense on this reissue, top of the line tip-on jacket, impressive slab of 200G vinyl deep groove label with exact replica and last but not the least sonic quality second to none.

If you don't have a copy on the way you are missing out on what is a stellar record by one of the best saxophonist ever!

You will spend some money this year on a reissue that will be so lifeless you will want to quit buying records, this AP release is the antidote to that lifeless reissue cut from trashy digital files!
