Offenbach Overtures offers fizzy, zesty Offenbach Overtures played here with precision and verve that few orchestras can match. Mr. Fremaux is superb. The last LP in the set is The Birmingham Orchestra conducted by Sir Vivian Dunn performing excerpts from "The Merchant of Venice Suite" and "In Memoriam Overture." Warning: Check foundation walls of your home, bolt down your sub woofers, remove all grill cloths and be prepared for magnificent musical rarities performed in the acoustical wonderland of the Great Hall, Birmingham University England. The performances capture the original "China Syndrome" subbass, subtle and not so subtle low frequency impact, gobs of air, sweet air, analogue strings, blustery ringing English brass and never less than loving performances.
