Vocalist Stacey Kent delivers a charming mix of standards, pop covers, French chansons, and original songs on Breakfast on the Morning Tram. The album was produced by Kent's husband, tenor saxophonist Jim Tomlinson, whose album, The Lyric, featured Kent's vocals and won Best Album at the 2006 BBC Jazz Awards.

Breakfast on the Morning Tram marked Kent's return to the studio after a four-year recording hiatus, and inspired the album's title, referring to the start of something new; a journey in a new direction. It is also the name of one of four new original songs — the first originals that Kent has ever recorded — written especially for her by Tomlinson and acclaimed author Kazuo Ishiguro, winner of the Booker and Whitbread prizes for such literary works as "The Remains of the Day" and "Never Let Me Go."

just wonderful! posted on 05/09/2017 5 Stars First let me tell you about the pressing; it is immaculate, no physical defect, no pops nor hiss. The mastering is also first rate, and purepleasure records have nailed this one, as well as the other albums in this series of Stacey Kent "audiophile remasters" which I also purchased.
