Small jazz groups brought out the best in Billie Holiday - especially groups as good as the one heard on this classic 1957 recording. Ben Webster, Harry "Sweets" Edison and the other members of this stellar ensemble were not just gifted soloists but sensitive accompanists as well. Lady Day was rarely more ably supported than she was on this program of sturdy standards, including three gems by the Gershwin brothers -and she rarely sounded more luminous.

Of course Billie is great here, and the backing too - but wow, is this stunning record! The sound quality and pressing are of the very highest quality. I don’t think it could get better than this. It’s a masterpiece in every regard.

I've been recently picking up the few remaining vocal albums from this series and I wouldn't have believed anything could top All Or Nothing At All. This record is just jaw dropping! It feels as if you are witnessing an after hours performance in a smoky Harlem nightclub. The recording, now over 60 years old and in mono is virtually state of the art all these years later. Honestly I feel privileged to hear it like this. Just an incredible, lifelike moving experience. I'll treasure this one forever. I bought mine in 2022, a recent repress and it was flawless.

Too bad the ratings only go up to 5

This one would get a 10! I have heard other audiophile pressings of Holiday's albums before, but NOTHING has compared to this. Besides the vinyl being deadly quiet, the sound is nothing less than stunning. The balance between Holiday and the accompanying instruments is perfect. And even at this point in her career where her voice was starting to slip, you can hear every single syllable- it's so clear, it's almost like she is in the room with you. Analogue Productions has to be one of the best reissue companies around. I hope to see many more spectacular releases like this in the future.

I have almost all original issues Billie Holiday on Clef and Verve. I can not believe that one day I would prefer re- issue. Incredible work guys from Analogue Productions!

Clean, quiet, and so good. Probably the best "Body and Soul" has ever sounded. My only gripe would be the thin jacket. Absolutely about the music... however, such a fine product deserves the royal treatment. No Billie Holiday fan should be without this premiere re-issue.
