Black Sails in the Sunset is AFI's fourth studio album, released in May 1999 through Nitro Records. It is the first AFI album to feature the current lineup of the band. The band describes the album as forming the beginning of their subsequent sound, which contains more melodic vocals, as opposed to their first three albums, which maintain a fast, non-melodic punk sound.
