The recordings on this album constitute the material from a June 20th, 1968 studio session recorded by Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer (HGBS) and Joachim-Ernst Brendt in Germany's Black Forest. This is no ordinary recording. This enthralling Bill Evans session was recorded five days after a famous performance at the 1968 Montreux jazz festival by Evans, bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Jack DeJohnette. Verve's Montreux live recording won a Grammy, but this studio session has been in the vaults ever since.

2xHD is a brand known to audiophiles who love jazz. The team of producer André Perry and audiophile sound engineer René Laflamme have produced exceptional transfers from analog tape.

2xHD vinyl are sourced from first generation analog recordings without any digital corruption. Lacquer cutting is done at Bernie Grundman Mastering on tube cutting equipment.

Really neat packaging and liner notes outlining the story behind the recording, and 2015 phone interview with Jack Dejohnette. The discs are well pressed and 45 RPM treatment on this is sweet. The track Some Other Time has always been my favorite with Bill playing. As others have noted, it does have a down side...makes you want the Box Set. A real treat. Enjoy the sounds.

After checking the deadwax I saw the lacquer is cut by

Chris Bellman.

Record sound very well!

The margin of the records are not sharp as most of the

records, but cut thick - nice feeling when holding it.

Record is very-very silent. I’ve cleaned it before

listening with a heavy cleaning on my Degritter before

though. Sound is charming and had a dead-quiet vinyl

surface!

Sounds great; less than half of the session

The pressings sound gorgeous. However, I was surprised that this set has only nine of the 21 tracks that were recorded as part of this session. For those lucky enough to own the full session, which was released on CD and a limited LP release by Resonance records, it may be hard to enjoy only nine tracks.

Excellent sound quality, solid pressing, good music.

In an attempt to not buy the Bill Evans boxset offered through Analog Productions, I picked this up. Big mistake. All it did was make me want the boxset.

This release is solid all the way around. Good music, nice jacket, claims it is AAA. There is a small artifact on the second track in the right channel, at first I thought it was soft brushes but I think it’s the tape. Otherwise a very well pressed offering and the sound is top notch.

I will be breaking drown and getting the boxset, I think, who knows!
