Live At Blues Alley: The 25th Anniversary Edition — Eva Cassidy's now legendary Blues Alley concert on the third day of 1996 was in some ways a happy accident. Although Eva had spent years in the studio with producer Chris Biondo creating an eclectic body of work, the pair decided that a live album was the quickest way to achieve their immediate goal of creating a CD to sell at gigs. Eva cashed in a small pension from her day gig at a local nursery, her Aunt Claire contributed toward the venture, the Blues Alley venue booked them during their slowest time of the year (just after the New Year's Eve blow-out), a live recording truck was hired and off they went — Eva hoping to generate enough profit to purchase a proper PA system.

The result was Live At Blues Alley, the only solo album released during Eva Cassidy's lifetime. Now 25 years after its release in the summer of 1996, the album is known the world over. To celebrate the 25th Anniversary the original recordings have been remastered using newly available high-resolution mastering technology. Eva's electrifying vocals, more present than ever, transport the listener back to the time and place. A heavyweight 45 RPM double vinyl LP is being released to showcase the sound (the first time the album has been available on vinyl),

Mix a really good original recording and smash it onto a very high quality 45 RPM piece (ok, 2 pieces) of vinyl and listen to the magic. This album is a 5 of 5 in every category from original recording and mastering right up the pressing. Possibly the quietest album I own. Appreciation of an artists work is always subjective but it's hard not to love Eva's singing skills.

Just like the SONGBIRD release, this one is top-notch. While not an AP release, Blix sure knows what they are doing. Snag a copy while they're still available! Eva sounds just fantastic on this recording with no IGD!!!

On a par with best mofi and QRP releases. Highly recommended to compliment and expand your Patria Barber/Diana Krall section.

A special treat, sounds amazing posted on 02/12/2022 5 Stars The presence and tangibility of her voice is uncanny. My vinyl had some slight roughness on the side edge that did not hamper listening. Very quiet, great dynamics. What a treat.
