Anthrax — Worship Music
Album marking the return of vocalist Joey Belladonna, last heard on 1990's Persistence of Time
Anthrax is an American heavy metal band from New York City, formed in 1981. Founded by guitarists Scott Ian and Danny Lilker, the band has since released nine studio albums and 20 singles, and an EP featuring Public Enemy. The band was one of the most popular of the 1980s thrash metal scene. When thrash metal began to gain a major following in the mid-to-late 1980s, Anthrax were dubbed one of the "big four" of thrash metal.
Worship Music was the long-awaited 2011 studio album from Anthrax. Not only was Worship Music the band's firs album of original songs since We've Come For You All, released eight years prior, but marked the return of Joey Belladonna as vocalist. Recording of the album was plagued by hardship, as the band struggled to find a vocalist after Dan Nelson left the group and John Bush decided not to serve as the vocalist for the album. Nonetheless, it was a massive success, charting at No. 12 in the U.S. Belladonna is firmly back in the Anthrax lineup with drummer Charlie Benante, guitarists Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano, and bassist Frank Bello.
