"...a full-fledged, unapologetic return to the country-rock that made his reputation when he led Whiskeytown. Not that the album is a retreat, or a crass attempt to give the people what they want, but it's an assured, comfortable collection of 18 songs that play to Adams' strengths because they capture him not trying quite so hard. He settles into a warm, burnished, countryish groove not far removed from vintage Harvest-era Neil Young at the beginning and keeps it going over the course of a double-disc set that isn't all that long." - All Music Guide

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals LP, Cold Roses, is a very good buy for those who like alt-country, pop, rock, a smattering of Neil Young and '70s folk-rock. Given that Ryan Adams' releases tend to be hit or miss propositions, this particular set stands out from his later releases and is, by far, the strongest of his three studio album releases from 2005. Even if Ryan Adams isn't normally up your alley, this set is worth the money spent.

Very good album by very talented but inconsistent artist. Sound is very good overall on vinyl although it took 2 exchanges to get an album with the right labels (2 side 1s) and 1 album very warped with a chunk of vinyl missing on lead in groove. The journey was worth it though, and I am proceeding to buy more Ryan on vinyl.

Great album, even better on vinyl

One of those rare records that you feel good about recommending. I don't usually write reviews, but I think this album merits praise. Beautiful recording.
